The 1 Mai Stadium in Slatina will be demolished, and CSM Slatina must move

--

Among the 11 teams that mathematically secured, from a sporting point of view, their place in the new season of League 2, the 2024-2025 edition, one in which the championship goes from 20 to 22 participants, at least two have a good chance to – he moves his “house”.

There is nothing new in League 2 with these moves, but the two decisions could belong to stable clubs from this point of view, so far.

As Hunedoara and Slatina await the final approvals for the demolition of the main stadiums in the city, Corvinul and CSM Slatina anticipate moving starting in the fall.

CSM Slatina could move to a new stadium, as it is expected to be demolished on May 1! Daniel Oprescu: “In Slatina there is only one option, the Metalurgistul base”

If in Hunedoara the demolition of the “Michael Klein” stadium and the construction of a new one in its place was still publicized, little or nothing was said about these plans in Slatina. Quite strange, especially since there will be elections soon and such infrastructure projects are always brought before the representatives in power to give reasons to the residents to elect them for another term.

At the end of the match played on Saturday in Slatina, at the 1 Mai stadium, in which CSM won with a score of 2-0 against those from Viitorul Pandurii and secured their retention in League 2, coach Daniel Oprescu also spoke about the fact that his team will have to move from the current arena, because it will be demolished to make way for a new one.

Oprescu wants the team financed by Slatina City Hall to continue playing at home in the municipality, not to go elsewhere.

“Let’s see what will happen, because, from my information, the stadium could be demolished. Let’s see where we will play. I’ll say it one more time: we would like to play in Slatina. The team, first of all, is financed by the Slatina City Hall and it would seem normal to me that everyone should make an effort to play in Slatina. It’s not normal for the people of Slatina to be deprived of seeing the team at work. Now, it remains to be seen. In Slatina there is only one variant, the Metalurgistul base. Let’s see… There are things that don’t belong to us. If not, we also have a backup option, but I would not like to pronounce it until after the discussions are completed, because if the demolition of the stadium begins, a solution will have to be found”stated Daniel Oprescu, quoted by NewsFlux.

Therefore, an option for CSM Slatina, agreed by its coach, would be to move to the Metalurgistul stadium in Slatina.

  • Slatina’s team, at that time ALRO, moved from the Metalurgistul stadium to the 1 Mai stadium in 2011, where it played and will continue to play until this fall, when it is expected to be demolished. Arena Metalurgistul has a capacity of 4,000 seats, compared to the 10,000 seats of the 1 Mai stadium.

The local authorities in Slatina have taken the first steps for the 1 Mai stadium to be demolished. The new arena will cost almost 400 million lei

The local authorities of Slatina have started the procedures for handing over and building a new stadium on the site of the current 1 Mai sports base.

On March 28, 2023, the Local Council of the Municipality of Slatina approved the technical-economic documentation for the Feasibility Study phase and the technical-economic indicators for the investment “Construction and endowment of the Sports Complex – 1 Mai Municipal Stadium, Slatina municipality, Sfântul Constantin Brâncoveanu Blvd. , no. 1”.

It was also approved then “the handing over to the Ministry of Public Works Development and Administration through the National Investment Company of the site located in the Municipality of Slatina, B-dul Sfântul Constantin Brâncoveanu, Olt county and ensuring the conditions for the execution of the objective of “Construction and equipping of the Sports Complex – Municipal Stadium 1 Mai , Slatina Municipality, B-dul Sfântul Constantin Brâncoveanu, no. 1″”

First, the current 1 Mai stadium must be demolished, which was inaugurated in 1924, underwent several modernizations, the last one in 2010, and has a capacity of 10,000 seats. It hosted, over time, the matches of the local teams Oltul Slatina, ALRO Slatina, Inter Olt Slatina and CSM Slatina.

The new sports complex will be built on a land area of 91,211 square meters, 23,040 square meters will be the surface of the stadium, it will have an importance category “B” and it is estimated that it will cost 397,114,260 lei, including VAT, of which 387,492,696 lei will be financed by the National Investment Company (CNI) and 9,621,564 lei by the Slatina City Hall.

The new arena will be of the “Panathenaic Stadium” type and will have 10,670 seats, it will be equipped with a nocturnal system, arranged under the cover, it will have an athletics track with six tracks and a heated playing field with the possibility of partial coverage. It will also benefit from accommodation spaces for camped athletes (40 rooms) and recovery spaces for athletes.

According to the draft decision, the estimated duration of the project implementation is 30 months, of which 24 months of execution and six months of design.

No fewer than eight teams in this season’s League 2 have played at home in towns other than the ones they represent

In the current League 2 season, 2023-2024, no less than eight of the 20 participants have played their home matches in a stadium other than their own or in another town, even if only for a short time.

  • CS Tunari it played its home games from 2023, in League 2, at its own stadium, in Tunari, but from 2024 it moved to the FRF base in Buftea, on the natural winter pitch.
  • Finally, CSM Alexandria no disputes in the municipality it represents for a stadium at least League 2 standards, so it performed at home at the Municipal Stadium in Turnu Măgurele.

Of these, CSC Şelimbăr, CFC Argeș, Metaloglobus, Viitorul Pandurii and, possibly, CSC Dumbrăvița will continue in the next League 2 season. the new season we could have at least Corvinul and CSM Slatina forced to change their arena where they have evolved so far.
