Armed attack at Drake’s Toronto mansion. A security guard was shot and is in serious condition

A security guard was seriously wounded in a shootout at the Toronto villa of Canadian rapper Drake on Tuesday, police said, without confirming whether the five-time Grammy winner – who has relations of fierce adversity with the American artist Kendrick Lamar – she was at home during the incident, reports Reuters, taken over by News.ro.

Police said the shootings happened around 2:00 a.m., and officers who responded to the incident found a man with a gunshot wound, who was taken to the hospital. A suspect was located, but the individual fled in a vehicle.

Speaking to reporters outside Drake’s home in Toronto’s upscale Bridle Path neighborhood, nicknamed “Millionaire’s Lane,” Inspector Paul Krawczyk said the investigation is in its early stages and information is very limited. Police have not yet determined a motive for the attack, and details about the shooter or the vehicle were not yet available.

The injured man, a security guard who was in front of the gates of the property, was in hospital in serious condition. Krawczyk could not confirm whether Drake was home at the time of the incident, but said police contacted his team, which cooperated.

Asked if the incident was related to the ongoing feud between Drake and American rapper Kendrick Lamar, Krawczyk said he was aware of it, but said it was too early to assign a motive and declined to comment further.

Drake and Lamar’s representatives have not yet responded to requests for comments, according to Reuters.

The lyrical war between Drake and Lamar got very personal, with a flurry of “disdain tracks” exchanged over the weekend between two of hip-hop’s biggest stars.

Lamar, who has won 17 Grammy Awards, escalated his musical battle with Drake last week, releasing three tracks within 36 hours aimed at showing his “disdain,” according to Variety. The video for the last of the three songs, “Not Like Us,” featured an aerial shot of Drake’s Toronto mansion. The song, which already has more than 23 million views on Lamar’s YouTube channel, prompted some fans to add an “Owned by Kendrick” tag to Drake’s Toronto home on Google Maps , according to the National Post tabloid. Meanwhile, the label has been withdrawn.

“Not Like Us” is currently number one on the music charts in the US and around the world. In the song, Lamar accuses Drake of having relationships with minors and having a secret child, with images from the video seeming to suggest that he is harboring multiple sex offenders under his roof. Drake’s response, The Heart Part 6, denies the accusations and says he “feels disgusted” by them, writes the BBC. The Canadian rapper has discussed his home, which he calls the “Embassy”, in his music and on social media. Its gates are twice as high as allowed by city law, due to its security needs.
