The next big step in the evolution of Apple tablets will be the transition to screens OLED. Well, Apple is supposed to take this big step on May 7, 2024, but Wacom just took it in the face, launching the Movink 13 model, the first in its portfolio with such a panel.
We are dealing with an unexpectedly thin terminal that offers vivid colors, “vibrant” as the American would say. Apple will have an event in May for the presentation of new tablets, possibly with an OLED panel. Well, Wacom already has such a tablet, which uses a 13.3-inch Samsung panel, with Full HD resolution and a contrast ratio of 100,000:1.
It supports the entire DCI-P3 color range and the panel is validated for Pantone and Pantone SkinTone standards. Thus, it allows the device to reproduce a wide range of colors and tones of human skin. I am more shocked by the thickness of the tablet: it is only 4 mm at the thinnest point and weighs only 420 grams. It’s 66% thinner and 55% lighter than the Wacom One 13 Touch.
The lack of backlight allowed it to be so thin. There are other advantages: it no longer heats up and has no “escape from the light” or bleeding. Movink 13 also has anti-glare protection, which ensures clarity in the brightest environments. In addition, it also protects against color distortion, so artists can express themselves freely without worrying about the result.
It has a USB-C port on the left and another on the right, plus customizable buttons. It comes with a Wacom Pro Pen 3 stylus as a package and will be available from May 27 on the Wacom website for 700 euros.
