The Pixel 8a appeared in a clip posted on X by leaker @MysteryLupin. It includes specifications that indicate the phone will have 8GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and a 4750mAh battery. The leaker also shows us the box of the Pixel 8a. Previously rumored specs include a 6.1-inch OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate (up from the 90Hz rate on the Pixel 7a display) and an FHD+ (1080p) resolution. The brightness could reach a maximum of 1400 nits.
The Pixel 8a will feature the Tensor G3 processor and could have a 64MP main camera with optical image stabilization and a 13MP ultra-wide camera. The front camera will have 13MP and Android 14 will be pre-installed. The clip also shows that we shouldn’t expect too many new accessories in the box, as it looks like users will only get the USB-C to USB-C cable, the SIM tray opener, and the Pixel Quick Switch adapter, which transfers data from other smartphones on a Pixel device.
The color options we see in the clip include Mint (light green) and Bay (blue). We should learn more about the Pixel 8a on May 14 during the Google I/O developer conference, when the device will most likely be officially announced.
Pricing for the new mid-sized Pixel is quite difficult, given that the Pixel 8 comes in at $549. Although the latter has a slightly larger display, the Pixel 8a’s main camera is 64MP, compared to 50MP on the Pixel 8.
