Belarusian dictator Aleksandr Lukashenko has announced that he is preparing for war, although he “doesn’t want it”. Putin’s ally visited the border town of Grodno, close to Belarus’ borders with Poland and Lithuania, Ukrainska Pravda reports.
“Don’t believe anyone who tells you that we want war. We’re preparing for war, if I’m being honest about it. “If you want peace, prepare for war”, these are not my words, but they are very well said”, said the dictator, referring to a quote from the Roman writer Vegetius.
Lukashenko also said that Belarus is making “necessary preparations” for a possible conflict, including relevant units and providing various types of weapons and equipment to the army.
“If someone over there, from unfriendly countries, criticizes us, let them know this: we are doing what is right. If they start praising us, then it’s a big problem,” said the dictator.
“We must not threaten anyone. We don’t want other people’s territory. If God helps us, we will grow our own,” he continued.
According to existing information, Lukashenko attended the ceremony of laying a time capsule for the new hospital in Grodno and said that it “sends a message to the neighboring countries of Belarus”.
