The most expensive car registered in Iasi this year costs almost 500,000 euros. Another record at RAR Iasi: car from 2010 – Ziarul de Iasi

Out of a total of 3,543 cars registered here this year, the Rolls Royce is “only” the second most powerful (620 HP), in first place being a car that, according to the year of manufacture, some would dismissively call a “boiler” – a 2010 Mercedes-AMG S 65 with 650 horsepower. Statistically speaking, nine cars brought to Iași and registered this year each have a power of over 400 horsepower (in total 5,156 HP), and their total value is approximately two million euros.

The most powerful registered cars

All nine horsepower stud cars were registered by the companies. These include a Bentley Bentayga Azure V8 (new), a BMW XM Label (new), another new BMW – model M3CS and, slightly used, a Porsche Cayenne Turbo (from 2019), a Mercedes GLS 600 4Matic Maybach (2022 ), an Aston Martin DBX (2020) and another Mercedes-Benz, an AMG G63. Two of these are hybrid cars. Last year, seven cars with more than 400 horsepower were registered in the first quarter, but all were gasoline-powered.

A shift in preference for hybrid or electric combustion is also seen in the total number of cars registered this year compared to last year. While the total number of car registrations increased slightly (+6%, from 3,330 cars in the first quarter of 2023 to 3,543 cars in the first quarter of this year), the number of electric cars registered was 43% more higher than the previous year (from 99 to 142).

60% increase in hybrid cars

And for hybrid cars, the increase was 60%. In the case of hybrid 01 (gasoline hybrid) cars, the increase was 59.7% (from 350 to 559 registered cars), and for hybrid 02 (diesel hybrid) cars, the increase was 62% (from to 37 registered cars in the first quarter of 2023, to 60 in the same period of 2024).

Instead, the registrations of gasoline cars (-17.7%) and those with gasoline + LPG (-52.8%, from 142 in 2023 to 67 in 2024) decreased.

In Iași, however, most cars for which registration was requested (approximately 54%) are diesel-powered. Compared to the previous year, this type of car registered a 10.6% increase in registrations.
