In the Magadan region, located in Eastern Siberia, a 75-year-old man was detained by the Federal Security Service (FSB, the main successor of the KGB), accused of “approving the terrorist act” at Crocus City Hall through a online comment.

In a video posted on social media, the man says he “did something stupid” that he now regrets. “We had to kill more vermin,” he reportedly wrote, referring to the spectators present in the concert hall when the attackers descended. The cited source states that he risks a sentence of up to seven years in prison.

In Baskotorstan, a region targeted by repression after violent protests in support of a local activist sentenced to prison, security structures arrested blogger Rustam Absealamov, also accused of justifying terrorism by broadcasting a video stream about the Crocus City Hall attack. The blogger from Baskotorstan spoke out for “blowing up Moscow”.

In St. Petersburg, a 26-year-old Tajik man was arrested for allegedly commenting inappropriately on the bloody episode on the outskirts of Moscow, which left 143 dead and 360 injured according to the latest official count.

In the Lipetsk region, the authorities detained the mother of a soldier mobilized on the battlefield in Ukraine. The reason: the woman broadcast a video stream in which she declares her outrage that a tragic event in Moscow gets more attention than the bombings in the suburbs, and at the same time reproaches Muscovites for their tolerance of the Kremlin’s policies.

“Half of Moscow should be erased. They are glad that my son is dying in the war, and I am glad that they are dying there. Let’s talk about Belgorod. They are bombarded every day. And every day people die there. No, let’s not talk about Belgorod. This is normal for the way things are going,” she says.

In Nizhny Novgorod, police issued a criminal report on behalf of the parents of a 15-year-old schoolgirl who said in a video that she no longer had to go to Moscow because of the Crocus City Hall terrorist attack, meaning that “ he can continue to drink”.

In Saint Petersburg, more precisely at Pulkovo airport, interior architect Nikolai Konashenok was arrested on Wednesday on charges of justifying terrorism after he wrote on Facebook: “Why Crocus and not the Kremlin?”.

The man was trying to flee to Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. His wife, Roksana Shatunovskaia, has since been dismissed from her position as general director of the Novaia Gollandia (“New Holland”) island restoration project in St. Petersburg.
