A road bridge crossing the Siret River between Sagna and Luțca in Neamț County collapsed while a truck and a van were crossing it.
According to local sources, the bridge in question was completely rehabilitated about six months ago, in November 2021, by the Neamț County Council, which manages it.
“By calling 112, we were informed that part of the bridge over the Siret River, which connects Sagna and Luțca, had collapsed. A truck and a van were on the bridge “, said the representatives of ISU Neamț, quoted by Monitorul de Neamț.
“The event resulted in a victim, a 56-year-old man, who was taken out of the truck by traffic participants. It was taken over by the medical crews who arrived at the place of the event, and will be taken over by the SMURD TIM crew to be transported to CPU Roman ”, added those from ISU Neamț.
Several crews and special vehicles from the Roman Fire Brigade, IPJ, IJJ, SAJ and SVSU Sagna, intervened on the spot.

The mayor of Sagna commune, Iacob Gheorghe, stated that it is a 216 meter long cable-stayed bridge and after rehabilitation it would have been tested very well.
“It simply came to our notice then. The local press and everyone just give their opinion. Weight tests were done until the bridge was launched. Eight trucks, eight or four, were loaded on the bridge with a waiting time. I did not go to the reception of the bridge, because I do not have the quality to do such a thing, but the specialists from the State Inspectorate for Constructions, from the CJ, the relevant specialists will give you more details. Measurements were made to see how heavy the bridge was. It took hours of measurements. The connection between the two localities (Sagna and Luțca – ed.) Is ensured with all the other five communes, by DJ 207D ”, said Gheorghe, quoted by Digi24.
The prefect of Neamț County, Adrian Niță, also appeared on the spot, stating:
“As far as I know, the bridge has been recently rehabilitated. I don’t know if the work has been completed. We need to ask for details and then communicate them. The County Council is the authority responsible for administration. The injured driver is being given medical help, it doesn’t seem to be serious “.
