The beaches of Hungary continue to be the main weekend destination for the residents of western Romania. With the Easter mini-vacation, the thermal baths at Mako were stormed by Romanian tourists. From Cluj-Napoca, tourists drive only 4 hours to the world of vacations and thermal baths.
Mako is not a very big town, but it is extremely welcoming, clean and quiet, it offers you various accommodation possibilities, closer or further from the Hagymatikum Baths, famous for their unique architecture in Europe.
During the holidays, Romanian was spoken in the town of Mako in Hungary. In a SPA center there are 11 indoor pools, nine outdoor and three for children. An adult pays 75 lei at the entrance, and children and young people (with a valid student card), around 58 lei.
The place is ideal for families with children. For lunch you can eat a steak with side dish for 25 lei or a lángos for 15.
A day here does not exceed 200 lei per person, tourists say, this money includes food, a drink, entrance to the beach and even the road.
Also at Mako you can visit the spectacular Alee a Cunulinor: it is suspended, 20 meters high, through the forest, near the Mureș river. Such an experience costs 15 lei per person.
Most of the accommodation units are located near the city center, where the superb Hagymatikum Baths are also located. The building has the shape of an onion, because Mako is also known as the “Onion City”, the project being created by the famous architect Imre Makovecs, whose signature can be found on the design of other superb buildings in the city. For tourists who choose to stay overnight, the accommodation prices are more than affordable. For a double room, prices start from 170 lei per night, but can reach 500 lei, depending on the preferred conditions.
