The average net salary gain recorded at the level of Bistrita-Năsăud county was 3919 lei in February, 15.3% higher compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, but even so the employees in the county earn less by about 20% compared to the rest of the Romanians. But there are also people who work in several places and have good incomes.

There were 72,736 employees in Bistrita-Năsăud county at the end of last year, an increase of 2.2% compared to the previous year, according to the Bistrița-Năsăud Regional Directorate of Statistics. Of these, 69,389 contributed to the public pension system, down 3% compared to 2022 when 71,689 were registered. The rest worked in institutions such as the Ministry of National Defense, the Ministry of the Interior, the Romanian Intelligence Service, which have territorial pensions different from the public pensions.

According to the activity report of the Bistrita-Năsăud County Pension House, at the end of last year there were 11,452 people who earned income above the average gross salary established by the Budget Law (in November 2023 the average gross salary 7766 lei – no), the equivalent of 16.5% of the total number of employees in the county.

There were also 5,588 people who earned income from several employers.

According to the same source, the number of employers decreased by 2% from one year to another. There were 8,659 employers in the county compared to 8,845 in 2022.

52.6% of the employees in Bistrita-Năsăud county worked in services, and 43.7% in industry and construction.

At the national level, the most jobs were added to the labor market from us in areas such as construction, professional, scientific and technical activities, administrative service activities, support services and trade. On the other hand, jobs in the manufacturing, education and extractive industries decreased.

The field that recorded the biggest jump in salaries was education, where the average salary increased by 1,174 lei in a single year. A not negligible jump of 688 lei was also seen in public administration and defense, respectively 533 lei in social insurance from the public system. In the financial intermediation sector, the average salary decreased by no less than 1,300 lei in one year. A similar collapse was seen in the extractive industry, from 8,401 to 7,101.

The number of registered unemployed at the county level increased at the end of 2023 compared to the previous year by 3.73%.

In February this year, there were 4891 people looking for a job in the records of the AJOFM Bistrita-Năsăud, an increase of 507 people compared to the previous month and 1298 more than the same moment in 2023. Out of the total number of unemployed 48, 1% were women.

The unemployment rate was 4.2%, 1.1 percentage points above the level of the corresponding month of
the previous year, by 0.4 percentage points over the previous month and by 1.1 percentage points over that recorded at the level
national.
