Florin Piersic got infected from a wound, most likely, said the doctors from the Heart Institute in Cluj, on Wednesday, the day they announced that the actor was transferred to the Matei Balș Institute in Bucharest with generalized infection – septicemia. Before, the patient was admitted to the Military Hospital in Cluj, which officially denied that Florin Piersic was infected there. Today, he arrived at the fourth hospital.
Piersic was admitted to the Military Hospital in Cluj in mid-April, then at the end of the month he arrived at the Heart Institute in Cluj, “where he came with an infection”, a doctor from the Heart Institute explained to HotNews.ro. The Cluj Military Hospital stated, through an official statement, that the patient did not get infected at them.
Infections associated with the medical act (IAAM), also known as hospital infections or nosocomial infections, are not a Romanian phenomenon, but can be present in any hospital in the world. In the case of Piersic, the medical director of the “Matei Balş” Institute, Adrian Marinescu, stated, in interventions on Antena 3 and Digi 24, that the source of the infection is not certain. “I don’t know if it’s a small talk or if it’s a general discussion that there is a risk that bacteria, such as staphylococcus, will cause the infection.”
Florin Piersic is not the first personality affected by nosocomial infections in Romanian hospitals. According to the doctors, the situation of Florin Piersic, 88 years old, is serious but stable.
