The film “21 rubini”, banned in Vrancea, will finally be broadcast on Monday, May 6, the day after Easter, on Realitatea Plus TV. Ciprian Mega is a native of Adjud, a graduate of the “Chesarie Episcopul” Seminary in Buzău, a priest since 2009, and in 2015 he debuted as a director with a short film.

The movie “21 rubies” it is not a political manifesto, as some have been quick to label it, or a stance against corruption in the Church or the Romanian state. The film is an excellent artistic achievement, in which we discover the destiny of some characters, who can live anywhere in post-December Romania and in any country in the communist camp. Priest Ciprian Mega’s film is not a diatribe against the Church, as the leaders of the BOR rushed to stigmatize it, nor a parody of the Western world, but it is an apology for the beautiful soul in the simple man, who has the certainty of eternity, but is crushed by political-ecclesiastical functioning, for which there is only BANUL. Everyone sees in the film as much as their emotional intelligence allows and will empathize or not with the characters depending on the seat they occupy in society. Of course, a work of art is not a book of stories, with an introduction, table of contents and conclusion, but has several registers. Any resemblance to characters from political-ecclesiastical life is accidental, less the presence of the Seminary “Caesarius the Bishop” from Zădărniceni, from which Ciprian Mega also graduated. Who will not shed tears at the tragic fate of the characters in this film means that they have understood nothing of the message that the author wants to send. From this perspective, “21 rubies” can be taken as an alarm signal addressed by a man of the Church, the Church which is us, the many and the ignorant, unfortunately. On the other hand, we refuse to believe that the author will allow himself to be drawn into the nets of the anti-European current in Romania, which uses every opportunity to glorify the Rising Sun. Father Ciprian Mega served in the Kremlin and met with the masters of Russia, but he is smart enough not to let himself be used by the cans of the Russians in Romania. Watch, please, with your soul, the film of Father Cyprian and you will find that it is a confession of faith in an artistic form and a plea for the worthiness of the servants of the Church!
