The Timisoara municipality announces that a series of repair and modernization works will be carried out in two of the city’s markets. Total investments will be approximately two million lei
Timișoara City Hall and SC Piețe SA will start, after Easter, modernization works in Doina and 700 squares. Thus, in Piața Doina the platform will be asphalted, the roof will be replaced, waterproofing will be carried out and repairs will be carried out in the dairy hall . In Piața 700, the municipality’s project provides for the arrangement of the platform and the restoration of the roof, as well as the installation of a modern air conditioning system in the hall with flowers. Finally, in the two markets fresh fruit and vegetables will be displayed for sale on new furniture and tables.
“I know it’s a discomfort for both those who do it shopping in the market as well as for merchants, but there are works that we have to do to have a trade modern. And in Piața Doina and in 700 square, the last serious modernization works were done 20 years ago, at the beginning of the 2000. I also talked with those who sell in the markets and with customers, and no one is satisfied with the conditions of there. We postponed the start of the works until after Easter precisely so that the people of Timisoara could stock up for celebrate“, said the mayor Dominic Fritz.
The works in the Doina and 700 markets, worth approximately two million lei, will last about a month and will be completed by the installation of new furniture and the installation of monitoring cameras. Traders who have a contract with SC Piețe SA will keep their place, under similar conditions as before, as the case may be.
In Piața Lipovai, conditions will improve both for traders and for buyers at the end of the project that provides for the redevelopment of the premises and the platform and repairs to the complex’s facade.
In Piața Badea Cârțan, where the modernization works of the dairy hall were recently completed, repairs are being made to the facade. In addition, the Timișoara City Hall continues the work of reconfiguring the area, so that the access of the buyers is easier and safer, the streets are more airy, and the traffic of the trams is no longer hampered by the cars traveling on the lines.
