During Holy Week, the leadership of Sibiu county makes a small portrait of priest Constantin Necula.

And a university professor at the Faculty of Theology in Sibiu, the priest Constantin Necula is not reconciled to the fact that he has public recognition, he told for the series “People and story places”, published weekly on the Facebook page of the CJ president Sibiu and other social media pages affiliated with the county administration. “I didn’t want all this publicity. I’m happy when people ask me if I can. I answer them that yes, I can, because God keeps me. And that’s enough for me”, says priest Constantin Necula, according to the mentioned sources.

Present in numerous conferences and interviews, from which filmed passages often become “viral on the Internet”, Constantin Necula says that he finds peace in the Astra Museum, in the Dumbrava Forest. In this museum you can also find two famous wooden churches: the most famous is the one brought from Dretea, Cluj county, which dates from 1672 and was baptized a “Sistine chapel of Romania”, and the one brought from Bezded, Sălaj county, which dates from 1754. The latter is to Necula’s liking. “It’s enough to look at the painted ceiling of the little church and feel that you are in a ship treading water, gliding in the sky,” says Necula for the Facebook page of Daniela Cîmpean and the Sibiu county administration. “It is a ship of hope on board of which climb, even if only for a few moments, those who retreat from the sometimes black waves of life”, the representatives of the administration complete Necula, who announce that this year too the church brought to Museum in 1990 will host the service of the Resurrection. “Always be on the side of Christ. It means standing on the side of the Resurrection”, Necula also conveys.

The priest also notes the relevance of the forest in the middle of which is set up the museum where the church is located where he finds peace. “We all need a moment of peace, to allow ourselves those thoughts that will reset us in the order of the days to come. Here, in the Dumbrava Forest, Emil Cioran, Lucian Blaga and DD Roșca used to come to read. And not by chance, here they found peace of mind. The forest has the memory of the people who searched for it”, says Necula.

“Sibians have a permanent desire to educate themselves”

From Brașov, Constantin Necula says that he knew from childhood that “Sibians are serious people” and that he came to love Sibiu “with all his soul”. “I am still in love with Sibiu, the city with European roots and history. Sibians are people who have a permanent desire to educate themselves, they have a special attachment to faith because, throughout history, they have competed with other faiths”.

Regarding Romanians, Necula appreciates that they are characterized by self-doubt. “We, the Romanians, have a slight lack of confidence in our own strength. Somehow, we have a lack of inner freedom. We need, as a people, to overcome this blockage and we can do it by knowing our history and each other”, urges priest Constantin Necula through the county administration.
