The beginning of May marks a new stage full of energy and creativity in the cultural landscape of Timisoara. Each new day brings to the fore a series of events designed to delight and inspire the community. This month is full of promise and comes with a diversity of artistic manifestations, memorable performances and cultural experiences. Here are the surprises waiting for you in May!

At the beginning of the month, the city will host the inaugural event of the “Musical Timișoara” International Festival, the 48th edition. The vocal-symphonic concert will take place on May 2, from 19:00, in the Capitol Hall of the Banatul Philharmonic.

In a note full of elegance and sophistication, the public is invited to take part in the operetta show “Bal at the Savoy” by Paul Abraham. The event will take place on May 8, starting at 19:00, at the Opera Hall of the Romanian National Opera.

A special evening dedicated to alternative music takes place on May 9, from 17:00 at FABER, where Implant for Refuz & HVNDS will take the stage, with Imund as the opening act.

On May 10, the public will be able to enjoy a symphonic concert organized by the Banat Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Alexander Sinan Binder. The event will start at 19:00 and will take place in the Capitol Hall of the Banatul Philharmonic.

This month comes with a lot of unmissable theater performances. On May 11, at the German State Theater, the premiere of the show “The Son” will take place, starting at 7:30 p.m. The next day, on May 12, from 19:00, in the Great Hall of the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu”, the show “Phantom Pain” will be staged. And for the third consecutive evening, on May 13, from 7:30 p.m., also at the German State Theatre, the public will be able to watch the “Cherry Orchard” show this time.

On May 15, the Opera House will host the opera “Tosca”, an impressive production by Giacomo Puccini. At the same time, the German State Theater presents the itinerant show “Danube Destinies” on May 17 and May 18. And for those who are passionate about music, there is a special Man in the Moon concert at FITT on May 17, starting at 8:00 p.m.

On May 19, in the Opera Hall of the Romanian National Opera, a truly grandiose event will take place – the opera performance “Otello”, composed by Giuseppe Verdi, where the public will have the opportunity to enjoy the talent and passion of the artists, in an interpretation of one of the most famous works in the classical repertoire.

Between May 19 and 26, the city will host the TESZT Euroregional Theater Festival, which will take place in various locations. This festival represents an international platform that promotes multiculturalism and presents to the public the most modern theatrical projects in the region. At its center is the support of cultural diversity and the creation of a space conducive to dialogue and exchange between artists and professionals in the theater field.

The premiere of the theater performance “Vivien Leigh: The Last Press Conference”, by the American author Marcy Lafferty and directed by Liana Ceterchi, takes place on May 21 at Cinema Timiș, from 19:30. The show is a moving re-enactment of the last days of Vivien Leigh’s life, now a shadow of the once adored star.

The following evening, May 22, at the Romanian National Opera, in the Opera Hall, the public is waiting for a grand event – Opera Gala, a concert with the participation of soloists Paula Iancic, Remus Alăzăroae and Șerban Vasile, which will start at 19:00.

On May 23, FITT hosts the contemporary dance performance “The Story of Lost Stories”. From 17:30, the audience will have the opportunity to experience the emotions and the story behind each movement.

At the Capitol Hall of the Banat Philharmonic, on the evening of May 24, from 19:00, the Symphony Orchestra will perform an exceptional concert under the baton of conductor Robert Farkas. And on May 25, from 7:00 p.m., at FITT, music lovers are invited to the Sarmalele Reci concert.

The theater show “Hamlet” by W. Shakespeare, directed by Ada Lupu Hausvater, will be staged on May 26, at the National Theater “Mihai Eminescu”, from 19:00.

In the evening of May 28, the “Mihai Eminescu” National Theater hosts the “Art of Comedy” show, which will take the audience into a world full of surprises. Then, on May 30, in the same location, the “Victims of the Debt” show will take place , which explores deep and topical themes.

Thus, the month ends with the exceptional concert of the Banatul Philharmonic on May 31, at 7:00 p.m., which marks the end of the “Musical Timișoara” International Festival, the XLVIIIth edition.
