The United Right Alliance (USR – PMP – Forța Dreptei) accuses the Central Electoral Bureau of “a new abuse against the Diaspora” by deciding that the alliance can have only one representative in the Electoral Bureau for Voting Sections Abroad, reports Agerpres and News.ro. The president of PMP, Eugen Tomac, appealed this decision to the High Court of Cassation and Justice.

In the appeal filed in court, the PMP asks that the judiciary establish a unitary practice because in the country it received the right to have several representatives, but the legislation was interpreted differently for the diaspora.

“The current elections should have been conducted in a fair, transparent and interference-free manner. However, the current government prepared the entire electoral process with the main aim of hitting the opposition, the United Right and, especially, the PMP. Basically, the left wants to control the entire electoral process, and we want to have only one representative. We must all be vigilant to prevent a fraud that they are preparing”, accuses Eugen Tomac.

He also accuses that all the measures taken in the organization of the elections are aimed at “eliminating the PMP from the organization of the electoral process”.

“The Permanent Electoral Authority harassed PMP by cutting the subsidy and by supporting the former president’s initiatives to block the party in court. I remind you that this had only one objective – that the PMP could not participate in the elections and, therefore, the United Right Alliance could not be formed”, believes Eugen Tomac.

A message of protest was also posted by the USR Deputy for Diaspora, Iulian Lorinz, who accuses the governing coalition of a new abuse of the diaspora.

“We have a Romania beyond Romania’s borders, and Romanians from the Diaspora are as Romanian as those from any county in Romania. The double measure of the Central Electoral Bureau, trying to make it difficult for Romanians from abroad to vote, is proof of a new abuse against the Diaspora, which matters for PSD and PNL only in the elections”, says Iulian Lorincz.

We remind you that initially the BEC invalidated the establishment of the United Right Alliance for the June 9 elections. The decision was overturned on March 19 by the High Court of Cassation and Justice (ICCJ), which admitted the appeal filed by the United Right Alliance (USR, PMP, Forța Dreptei) against the Central Electoral Bureau’s decision to reject its establishment protocol. Thus, USR, Forța Dreptei and PMP can participate in the elections together.
