A man who dined at a restaurant in Iași had a big surprise. He ordered a bean borscht and a portion of onions, and the price of it put him off.
The customer of a restaurant in Iași was amazed to find out how much an onion can cost.
“Unique in Romania”
The man went to a restaurant and ordered several dishes, including a portion of onions. “It’s cut like a 5-star Michelin,” scoffs the customer.
“6 lei an onion. The food was good, the price acceptable. Yes, that uncooked onion, cut into four like 5 Michelin stars… Don’t miss the opportunity, unique in Romania!!!”, he writes on the Facebook group “You are from Iași if…”.
“Why didn’t you come with onions from home?
The Iesian’s post caused a wave of reactions. Some say he should take on the fact that he goes to a restaurant and the prices that go with it. Others, on the other hand, say he “got off cheap”.
- “But doesn’t a 6 lei coffee seem like a lot to you? Even 1 leu costs coffee dust! At most, in most cases. You pay for washing dishes, location, employees, heat, air conditioning, parking, accounting, purchases, fines and profit. Otherwise, you make yourself at home. See how some people sell ice cream for 10 lei a cup in Brașov. 3 cups for 31 lei! For 2-3 children it costs 150 lei. About 7 cakes from Lidl … and you don’t sit at the table, you go for a walk with it”.
- “Compensate with the soup at the price, I haven’t found a soup or a borscht under 25 lei since I don’t know when”
- “We make soup for 23 lei and include onions”
- “As long as you go to a restaurant and want to be served at the table regardless of the menu, it means that you can afford it, why not indulge and split the thread into 10… Why didn’t you bring onions from home?”
