Among the sector town halls, the highest level of spending from European funds was in sector 2: 37%, i.e. 189 million euros were spent out of an allocation of 504 million euros Out of almost 13 billion euros allocated for Bucharest, both for the General City Hall and for the sectors, a total of 4.2 billion euros were spent.

Bucharest, a city suffocated by traffic, pollution and with problems in the supply of hot water and heat, absorbed only 30% of the European funds scheduled for the period 2020-March 2024, according to a set of data published by the Ministry of Finance.

According to the cited source, out of almost 13 billion euros allocated for Bucharest, both for the General City Hall and for the sectors, a total of 4.2 billion euros were spent.

In total, Bucharest has an annual budget of around 4 billion euros, of which 2 billion euros is the budget of the General City Hall alone. In the four years, the total budget was around 15 billion euros, of which most of the money went to the salaries of town halls and municipal companies, subsidies and goods and services. Bucharest City Hall has the highest level of spending with European funds: 57%, that is, it spent 2.3 billion euros, compared to the allocation of almost 4 billion euros. However, having a larger allocation, the General City Hall also has a higher degree of failure in absolute amount: 1.7 billion euros.

Although the degree of absorption from sector 4 is 19%, the third among Bucharest municipalities, the degree of failure is also the highest, because it had an allocation of 4.6 billion euros in the mentioned period and spent only 850 million euros, so it is behind by 3.8 billion euros in the period 2020-March 2024.

The City Hall of Sector 1 spent the least of the allocated European funds: 11%, i.e. under 11 million euros, out of an allocation of 96 million euros.

At the same time, the City Hall of Sector 5 spent, in the same period of time, 28 million euros, out of an allocation of almost 200 million euros, which means a 14% achievement rate. Among the sector municipalities, the highest level of spending from European funds was, in the period 2020-March 2014, in sector 2: 37%, i.e. 189 million euros were spent out of an allocation of 504 million. euro. Even if it is the best performance in a series of extremely poor performances, over 400 million euros were practically lost in sector 2 as well.

Sector 6, with an allocation of 1.3 billion euros, spent only 0.3 million euros, i.e. a degree of achievement of 19%.
