Students who do not have a civilized behavior and language in school buses will be disciplined and will be prohibited from entering school vehicles – regulation adopted by the Chamber of Deputies

The plenary session of the Chamber of Deputies adopted, on Tuesday, a legislative proposal that establishes that school vehicles can only transport students and teachers, and students who do not have a civilized behavior and language and destroy the goods in the said vehicle can receive disciplinary sanctions and the prohibition of traveling with the vehicles schools for a determined period of time, reports Agerpres.

Legislative proposal for the use of school vehicles intended for local public transport of primary/secondary school students aims to regulate the establishment of measures regarding the use of school vehicles intended for local public transport of students from the compulsory education cycle, for the purpose of traveling to classes and other cultural/educational activities, as well as additional measures addressed to traffic participants, the agency notes the press.

“Student transportation with school vehicles is free, under the conditions of the decision of the deliberative authority at the level of the administrative-territorial units and is provided by the administrative-territorial units or the educational units, with the vehicles owned by them or held under any other title. The use of school vehicles is carried out in compliance with the legal provisions regarding traffic on public roads and road transport. School vehicles are uniformly inscribed, regardless of the make/type of the respective vehicle, on the front and on the side with the text “SCHOOL TRANSPORT”, the text being black on a yellow background. For the purpose of transporting students to classes, for school vehicles, the educational unit transmits to the mayor: the traffic schedule, the route/routes, the boarding place, the number of students transported in a trip and the number of trips made daily, during the course of the school year current. The number of students transported in a race cannot exceed the number of seats”, it is stated in the project adopted today, April 30, 2024, by the Chamber of Deputies, decision-making body in this case.

The normative act mentions that these vehicles can be used, in addition to transporting students to classes, also for the purpose of transporting students and teaching staff to cultural/educational activities, likely to contribute to the development of learning competence and socio-emotional skills.

The routes can be organized for any destination on the national territory, both during the school year and during the holidays.

“Students are obliged to occupy the designated places during the journey, to have a civilized behavior and language and not to destroy the goods in the respective vehicle. Students who do not comply with these obligations may receive disciplinary sanctions, in accordance with the legal norms in force, respectively, the prohibition of travel with the previously mentioned vehicles, for a determined period of time“, states the new regulation.

School vehicles cannot transport third parties, apart from students and teachers, and the disciplinary responsibility for violating this provision belongs to the driver of the vehicle and can drive, depending on the repeatability and severity, until the employment contract is terminated, states Agerpres.

The legislative proposal was rejected by the Senate, but was adopted with 239 votes “for”, zero “against” and one abstention by the Chamber of Deputies, which is the decision-making body in this case.
