A new tourist area is developing in Gorj county

The Bumbești-Jiu area could appear on the tourist map of Gorj county in the near future, if we take into account the fact that up in the Plaiul Bumbeștiului is being built. Many locals who had land here are building small guesthouses, and those who had or still have animals are turning their mansions into small cabins.

Far from the urban bustle, up in the plains, at Bumbești-Jiu, an area with great tourist potential is taking shape, and those who own properties here have great confidence that the area will become a place of relaxation in the coming years.

“I am from Bumbești-Jiu and I fell in love with this area. I bought a piece of land here a few years ago when the prices were decent, not to say modest, but now they have really boomed. I think they have grown 10 times from 10 years ago so to speak. There are many local people who owned properties, they have mansions here that they arrange and come here to relax. It is an area still unknown to many but with extraordinary tourist potential. I can see the Parâng mountains from the window, it’s quiet and the air is clean”, said a local resident.

In the area, they bought land and businessmen who plan to make tourist complexes here. “In the first phase, a lot of people from Bumbești-Jiu, or Mușetești, bought here, and when he found out about the area, many people with financial potential bought land here. I saw that someone seems to be making a tourist resort, erecting several cabins from those A-Frames, it has a lake and a dream view. It is a corner of heaven still undiscovered by many and unpromoted”.

The local authorities in Bumbești-Jiu were talking a few years ago about obtaining European funds for the modernization of the forest road to Plai, or even its asphalting, but part of the access road to the area where it is being built is in the perimeter of the National Park “Defileul Jiului” .

It is about 10 kilometers of mountain road that could develop tourism in the area. It should be noted that you can also get here through Mușetești commune, but even on this option the roads are only accessible with 4X4 cars.

The area does not benefit from any utilities, therefore the priority would be electricity and water supply.
