Sibians have several options when it comes to spending their free time during the May 1 and Easter mini-holiday. The Easter market, hiking in the surroundings of Sibiu and printing workshops are among the main recommendations.
Easter market, open until May 7
The Easter market is the main attraction for the May 1 and Easter mini-holiday. The market in Piața Mare will be open until May 7. The fair will be open daily between 11:00 and 21:00. Easter decorations, painted eggs, handmade jewelry, books and cards, toys, pottery, handmade macrame doll paintings and more will be available from the themed cabins.

Horseback riding on Hârtibaciului Valley
Sibians and not only are waiting for the mini-holiday of May 1, respectively May 1-4, for a ride on the wagons pulled by the steam locomotive. The train departs from Cornățel station, travels to Hosman, where it takes a 15-minute break, and returns, and the journey takes approximately 90 minutes. The steam locomotive races from May 1-4 will take place from 10.00, 12.30 and 15.00. Tickets can be purchased online.
Binder’s Lake opens
The Binder Lake sports and leisure complex reopens from Wednesday, May 1, for the warm season.

New movies at CineGold
On May 1, the people of Sibiu are expected to watch the newest films at CineGold. “Challengers”, “Killer Evil”, “Buzz House: The Movie”, “The Solution Book” or “Sting” are the most recent films that will be shown at CineGold. See the program HERE.
Basketball match, on May 3
CSU Sibiu loses the second match of the series with CSM Constanța. The decisive match will take place in Sala Transilvania on May 3, and the winner will play for the 5th-6th places with Rapid Bucharest.
Japanese printing & engraving workshop
Those interested in new experiences are welcome at the Typography Workshop in Sibiu where they will be able to try the traditional typographic art – Letterpress, but also Japanese art, more precisely engraving using the Mokuhanga technique. The workshops will take place on Thursday, May 2, at 4:00 p.m., at the only printing museum in Sibiu.
Hiking in the surroundings of Sibiu
Hiking can represent another alternative for Sibiu who want to spend the May 1st mini-holiday as close to nature as possible. Thus, the “Years of Trekking” have prepared several hikes for the mini-vacation. On May 1, Sibiu can tour the Greweln Valley. On May 2, the Circuit is organized: Bazna with cheeses and leurde pesto. On May 3, the people of Sibiu are invited to take part in the Circuit: Biertan – Ațel, Dupuș – Biertan and hiking in the Cindrel Mountains.
Thematic trails in the Sadului River – Hikes and stories
The My Transilvania association launches three thematic trails in the Sadului River. The Hay Path in Grui and Valea Prejbei, the Cheese Path in Beberani and the Hut Path in Secături. The guided hikes take place on May 1, between 10:00 and 17:00, with the last arrival in the village in the evening at 20:00.
Choral concert at Thalia Hall
The people of Sibiu are expected on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at 7:00 p.m., Sala Thalia at the “Pascal Lights” choral concert.
May 1st Lake Festival
On May 1st, the people of Sibiu are expected at a new edition of the Lake Festival on May 1st, near the Binder lake. “Whether you like to dance to electronic beats or relax in the great outdoors, we’ve got you covered. In addition, if you like sports, you can participate in beach volleyball matches.

Transilvania floating market, open on Thursday and Saturday
Piața Transilvania is open for two days during Holy Week, namely Thursday, May 2, between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. and Saturday, May 4, between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
Easter fair of local producers in Cisnădie
Also, on Thursday, May 2, the people of Sibiu are expected between 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., in Cisnădioara in the courtyard of the Agora house in Piața Gozelnius no. 10.
