The Hungarian band New Fossils held a concert in Timișoara on Monday evening, the event held in the M2 Event Venue being included in the tour that the band undertakes to promote their second record, called II.

The group consisting of Daniel Ferenc Szabo – drums, Marcell Gyanyi – double bass, Daniel Varga – saxophone, Istvan Toth – guitar and Damjan Ocsovay – piano, keyboards presented an ingenious blend of traditional jazz flavors with modern influences. The multitude of modern sound effects sprinkled over jazz, funk or rock inspired pieces gives New Fossils songs a special magic.

This hybrid of old and new is as tasty as possible for the public open to experiments and due to the fact that the sounds from both camps are used in a well dosed amount.

The songs oscillate quite a lot and convey complex moods: from quiet portions that completely relax you to nervous compositions that subconsciously induce the hectic life in big metropolises. The few spectators of the New Fossils concert in Timișoara were captivated by the performance offered by the Hungarian artists. New Fossils is a band consisting of musicians from the neighboring country who are also involved in other musical projects, including in the pop area.

“Our two albums were recorded during a session we had at SuperSize Recording in Budapest. For the first album I chose more groovy songs, and for this second album quieter songs with modern Scandinavian influences. We also play other styles, like pop, but we like jazz because we all learned jazz. The name refers to the fact that we have traditional influences, but we also introduce modern stuff into our songs. We enjoy the fact that at our concerts we have a diverse audience, from those who are only amateurs of traditional jazz to young people who listen to the more modern side of jazz”, the members of the Hungarian band New Fossils told us.
