Sent to court for bribery, the former president of the Vaslui County Council, Dumitru Buzatu, won his first victory in court. The Vaslui court accepted the removal of important evidence from the bribery case. It is about recordings of conversations between Dumitru Buzatu and his informants. The decision is not final.
Among the evidence excluded by the Vaslui Court from the bribery case are recordings of conversations that a businessman had with an expert who evaluated the quality of roads and with Dumitru Buzatu, when he was president of the Vaslui County Council, writes Hotnews.
In one of the recordings, the expert tells the businessman that he can carry out a new expertise that shows that he no longer needs to pour a new layer of asphalt of at least 6 centimeters over the entire length of the Bârlad-Laza-Codăiesti road, but suggests to first contact Dumitru Buzatu. In the meeting with the head of the County Council, the businessman receives assurances from Dumitru Buzatu that the expert “He doesn’t get to do these anymore (…) because I told him what’s his business”. Then he assures the businessman that he will help him with the settlement of the amount of 15 million lei for the works.
The Vaslui court requests that by May 10, the DNA mentions whether it maintains the referral to court in this case or requests the return of the file to complete the investigation.
The recording of Dumitru Buzatu caught in the act receiving 1.25 million lei as a bribe to favor a company to obtain a contract was not excluded from the file. He received the money in a restaurant and was found by investigators in the trunk of his car.
Dumitru Buzatu spent almost seven months in preventive detention, and two weeks ago he was placed under house arrest.
