“We will do everything to get the highest score that PSD had in the local elections.” How the president of PSD Sibiu explains the nomination of the candidate for the City Hall

Florian Giubega’s candidacy for Sibiu City Hall from the social democrats is a decision taken by Bogdan Trif, the leader of the county party organization, says Laura Barac, who leads the municipal organization of PSD Sibiu.

The election of a candidate practically unknown to the Sibiu electorate until the past few days does not prevent the social democrats from starting the electoral campaign “with momentum, with enthusiasm”, says Laura Barac, president of the municipal organization of PSD Sibiu. “We have a young candidate. At the level of the organization there were several variants, some also appeared in the public space. In the end, the version supported and assumed by the president of the county organization is my colleague, Florian Giubega, who unfortunately could not be present today. I, as the president of the municipal organization, my team and my colleagues will do absolutely everything so that the score obtained by the organization’s candidate for the position of mayor of Sibiu municipality, as well as the list of councilors, will be the highest score that PSD had him in the local elections”, declared Laura Barac during an electoral event organized in the Vasile Aaron neighborhood.

“It’s a custom, it’s not a rule,” Barac replies, when asked about the situation in which the president of the county organization, Bogdan Trif, is running for the presidency of the County Council, while the president of the municipal organization is not running for Sibiu City Hall. “I said that after a four-year mandate as a county councillor, the experience can be useful in the local council as well”, adds the one who is now the group leader of the PSD county councillors.

With regard to the withdrawals from other parties (USR, in particular, but also FDGR) that have recently distinguished the Sibiu social-democrats, Barac limited himself to commenting only on those from the organization he leads. Organization in which Corina Bokor, deputy mayor of Sibiu from the FDGR for almost ten years, joined. “As long as we have people with experience in administration like Ms. Bokor joining us, it can only be a good thing, and that will count for the final score we get.”

Corina Bokor opens the list of PSD candidates for the Sibiu Local Council, while Laura Barac is in second position. Florian Giubega, president of the PSD Sibiu youth organization since the end of last year, is in third position.
