Sometimes, people have a tendency to insist on going on sick leave for a simple cold as well, not just for serious health problems, and some doctors issue them the respective certificates. That’s how we got to the situation where tens of thousands of such certificates were issued throughout the country. In this sense, the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rafila, declared that a control activity to bring medical leave prescriptions to an acceptable limit cannot be done without a serious and systematic monitoring. “I don’t think that the serious control activity for bringing the medical leave prescription to a bearable limit can be done without a monitoring and control activity, which must be planned, serious and systematic. It is not the responsibility of the Ministry of Health, I do not give them advice in any way, but things must happen that way. It’s not the idea of publishing charts, the idea is to do our job where we are placed”, said the minister.
“Between March 13 and March 31, checks were carried out on the doctors who had the most days of medical leave, for which they issued certificates. We are talking about a top 10 doctors, specializing in orthopedics-traumatology, oncology, radiotherapy, general surgery, and neurology. Practically, as part of this control action, the documents that were the basis for the issuance of these certificates were verified and whether the obligations that doctors have to comply with, according to Ordinance 158, were respected. Following the checks, three warnings were given for violations of certain obligations, such as the obligation to draw up a plan to follow the evolution of the disease. The other two warnings were given because the respective doctors did not have the certificates with the days of medical leave they benefited from in the patient file, documents that are issued by the employers”, said the spokesperson of the County Health Insurance House (CJAS ) Constanta, Aura Drăgoi.
