A firefighter from Botošan was part of the climbing team of the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, which won the 4th place in an international competition.

Platoon adjutant Ionuț Honciuc participated, together with 10 other colleagues from the Bucharest-Ilfov, Alba, Brașov, Cluj, Hunedoara, Mureș and Timiș Emergency Situations Inspectorates, in the international Rescue Great Day competition, held in Seville, Spain.

For three days, they tested their skill and skill in a series of intense challenges of rescuing, retrieving and evacuating victims or animals from a natural environment (dam, spillway and rock face) and from large structures and charismatic buildings of city, along with 34 other professional teams from all over the world.

At the end of the tests, the representative team of IGSU, of which Ionuț was also a part, managed to place itself in 4th place. The teamwork, the experience gained by each member and the impeccable coordination were just a few elements that contributed to this achievement.

This competition is not only about conquering the heights, but to demonstrate the team spirit and outstanding skills of the Romanian firefighters.

Ionuț has been employed as a firefighter in the Botoşani Fire Department for 17 years. In 2019, he got acquainted with “alpinism”, during a course organized by IGSU. Later, he started training together with his colleagues from ISU Botoșani, but also in the training camps organized by IGSU, being noted for his proven skills.
