The torment of Andrei, the 14-year-old boy killed by his father in a village in Vaslui. Minor punishment received by the criminal

A man from Vaslui fatally injured his son due to alcohol consumption and untreated mental problems. The boy was abused by his father for years, who often beat him for no reason.

On April 29, the Iași Court of Appeals definitively sentenced Gigel Manta, a man from Vaslui county, to 8 years in prison for beatings or injuries causing death. The individual killed his boy, Andrei, for no reason.

The horrifying crime took place on December 11, 2022, in the village of Ivănești, Pădureni commune in Vaslui. Andrei, a 14-year-old boy, was fatally stabbed by his father with a knife he was preparing to use to cut the pig.

The man was drunk and hit the boy for no reason. An ambulance and an EMS crew were quickly on the scene, but there was nothing more they could do to save the boy’s life.

Andrei lived only with his father, Gigel Manta. She had a hard life with him. The man often got drunk and vented his anger on the boy. Over the years, the victims of his aggression have been his wife, but also his eldest daughter.

The woman died four years ago, and from that moment the life of the two children became a nightmare. The eldest daughter got married, and the neighbors say that she chose this solution to escape the hell at home. Andrei stayed at home, and his father made him work like a big man.

He broke a finger and had several injuries on his body caused by the horse he was taking care of, but also from the work he did daily.

Taken over by the DGASPC, but left in the hands of the abusive father

Andrei’s case also came to the attention of DGASPC Vaslui, whose representatives took the boy and took him to a center of the institution. Soon his father came and took him home.

“I know that his father, this Gigel Manta, took his grandmother from Leoisti and they went to the center and took him home. The social worker had monitored the case before, but no one could have predicted that he would do something like this. He was, indeed, aggressive with his drink. And he seems a bit mentally unbalanced, but even so you didn’t expect him to kill his own child”said Temistocle Diaconu, the mayor of Pădureni commune, for Vremea Nouă.

On the fateful day, Andrei was helping his father butcher the pig. He wanted to please him, as always, but the man attacked him with a knife and stabbed him without the boy being able to defend himself or run away.
