Cultural project at the Vaslui County Museum: “Urbanscape Vaslui – exploring reality in the footsteps of Cik Damadian’s graphics”

“Ștefan cel Mare” Vaslui County Museum started on Friday, April 26, 2024, the cultural and research project “Urbanscape Vaslui – exploring reality in the footsteps of Cik Damadian’s graphics”.

The main goal of the project is to allow young people from Vaslui, members of the Volunteer Group “Ștefanienii” within the County Museum “Ștefan cel Mare” Vaslui, to explore and discover significant places in the cities of Vaslui, Bârlad and Huși, immortalized by the artist Cik Damadian in his graphics, in the period 1977-1978.

“Known cartoonist and draftsman Cik Damadian was born in 1919 in Constanţa and died in Bucharest in 1985. The sketches that formed the basis of this project are part of the exhibition of 43 drawings “Vaslui – Bârlad – Huși”, which was opened in the “Art” hall of the “Ștefan cel Mare” County Museum in Vaslui in 1979″said the organizers of the event.

The first stage of the project focused on exploring the city of Vaslui, offering participants the opportunity to rediscover and document the urban and cultural landscapes inspired by the artist’s creations.

Under the careful guidance of the project coordinators, museographers Diana Matei, Marian Antoniu and museum pedagogue Ramona Palade, the young volunteers participated in interactive photography sessions, capturing the essence of the places that served as a source of inspiration for the artist Cik Damadian.

The results of the first stage of the project will materialize in an exhibition that will be organized on the occasion of the Cultural Days of the Municipality of Vaslui. The next stages involving the cities of Bârlad and Huși will take place in 2025.
