The time interval in which supplies are made in the Historic Center of Braşov creates major traffic problems, especially on Mureşenilor Street. Because of this, pollution also increases during the two daily hours, so the Braşov Metropolitan Transport Association is looking for solutions to solve traffic problems and to reduce pollution.
Thus, Iceberg+ and EIT Urban Mobility, in partnership with Braşov City Hall and the Metropolitan Association for the Sustainable Development of Braşov Public Transport, officially announce the launch of the call for funding from the “City RAPTOR 2024” program. The program aims to identify innovative solutions developed by startups and innovative small and medium-sized businesses in the field of urban mobility to respond to the specific challenges of the cities involved.
“One of the challenges launched for which an urban mobility solution is sought is that of Braşov, for the improvement of urban logistics in the historic center of Braşov. The proposed challenge aims to improve the distribution of goods in the historic center of Braşov to reduce congestion and air pollution. Startups and SMEs active in the field of urban mobility and technology, from all over the European Union, will be able to propose concrete solutions based on innovative technologies in the framework of the “City RAPTOR” call, which will contribute to solving this challenge. The selection will function in the form of a funding call, with the best proposal receiving a non-reimbursable budget from EIT Urban Mobility, to implement the proposed solution at the pilot project level in the municipality of Braşov”said Cătălin Frangulea (pictured left), director of the Braşov Metropolitan Association for the Sustainable Development of Public Transport.
Start-ups from all over the European Union are to submit projects, and the association is waiting to find the optimal solution for Braşov.
“The results expected by the partners as a result of the implementation of the project are: contribution to the objective of reducing traffic volumes in the city center: less than 800 vehicles per hour entering Muresenilor street at peak hours; improved conditions for local food delivery and goods receiving businesses; decrease in the use of motorized vehicles for deliveries in the central area; improving air quality: fewer hours per month with PM 1.0 and PM 2.5 exceeding the maximum threshold; Reduction of noise pollution on Muresenilor street: from 70 decibels to 50 decibels“, said Alexandra Hîncu (right photo), project manager.
From August, a project will be selected that will be financed with 40,000 euros, with a duration of 5 months.
