One area where we have once again fallen behind other counties is that of music festivals. Here it is no longer the fault of “Bucharest that didn’t give us money”, but a local problem, of collaboration and organization. It is frustrating that the people of Timisoara have to go to Cluj for Untold and Electric Castle or to Constanța for Neversea or Beach, Please!
Why not collaborate, County Council and City Hall, to put money together and create a reference event, not only in our country, but even in Europe? There is money, but it flows on all kinds of obscure events slipped into the Cultural Agendas of the two institutions.
Let’s focus on a major event that we can grow organically in a few years! It has been proven that the money spent supporting the Untold festival, for example, returns to Cluj through increased consumption, taxes and rents during that period.
We have an airport, we have hotel capacity. It’s up to us to organize ourselves!
After I become president of the Timiș County Council, I commit to the following:
1. I will clean up the Council’s Cultural Agenda and prioritize several large-scale, impactful events;
2. I will implement a multi-year plan, with substantial amounts of money, to support a large-scale music festival in Timișoara;
3. I will conclude a partnership with Timișoara City Hall for the joint support of this festival, for the benefit of the people of Timisoara, a partnership based on legal procedures, so that there is no longer any suspicion of the organization of rigged auctions;
4. I will get involved for the sponsorship of this festival by the business environment.
Until then, I ask the current management of the county council and the City Hall to move the CODRU festival to Timișoara, starting this year, as it is one of the projects with potential, which has grown significantly lately. Only in Timișoara can we increase the caliber of such an event and make people happy.
