I chose Palm Sunday to submit my candidacy for the elections for the presidency of the Sibiu County Council.
I am sure that the citizens of Sibiu county are tired of being lied to for 8 years by the “right-wing” leadership of the County Council (CJ). They were lied to especially in 2020, when they were told that there is funding for the construction of the county hospital and that the day after the election, if they win, the construction of the edifice so desired by the citizens of Sibiu will begin. The lie had short legs because no funding axis was open at that time, and the memorandum signed with the PNL Prime Minister and the PNL Minister of Health had no budgetary coverage. Subsequently, the leadership of the County Council missed all the big goals of the county because of the gross incompetence with which they were approached. In relation to the promise of building the county hospital, the only achievement that can be boasted of now, at the end of the mandate, is the virtual tour of the “open” hospital in an electronic version, on which they spent a huge amount from the County Council’s budget and which is not does nothing to help the distressed Siberians.
The vast majority of county roads are in deplorable condition, after 8 years of the current management of the Sibiu CJ. Two sections are an exception: one financed through PNDL 2, by the PSD government, and for the second, the financing was obtained by the former PSD leadership of the County Council.
Almost nothing was done in the tourist sector, the resorts of Păltiniș, Bâlea, Ocna Sibiului, Bazna, but also the other areas with tourist potential being left in ruins. Nothing was invested, the only project in which money was pumped was “Years of hiking” – a bankrupt project, CJ Sibiu brand.
Out of pure incompetence, he also missed the investments that were financed by European funds because he was not able to make the appropriate documentation for the money to be accessed. Sibiu lost the 100 million euros that it could access and that the CJ leadership boasted about a few years ago. The citizens of Sibiu must know that the failure to achieve the waste recycling targets and the reduction of the amount deposited in the landfill implicitly leads to new taxes, also paid by the citizens of Sibiu. It is not surprising that, during the current management of the CJ Sibiu, sanitation fees have increased year by year, the price becoming almost unbearable for many Sibiians.
We can give an example of unprofessionalism by comparing Sibiu county with Bistrița-Năsăud, with a much smaller number of inhabitants. Regarding the European funds absorbed by the county councils, Bistrita-Năsăud attracted 131,344,871 euros, while Sibiu – 69,784,978 euros, in the financial year ended. The situation is reported by the Ministry of Finance. The county hospital in Bistrița-Năsăud is expanding through the construction of a new wing of 15,000 square meters, all wards are being renovated and equipped with the latest generation equipment. All this means an investment of 100 million euros, money from European funds.
The leadership of the County Council took its exam and failed with flying colours, even in a period of crisis. During the pandemic, there was a person in charge of the county hospital (whom the PNL also dismissed, through the Minister of Health Nelu Tătaru), who brought Sibiu, for weeks on end, to first place in the number of deaths caused by Covid.
I will present, at the beginning of the electoral campaign, the PSD Sibiu program, with clear projects and deadlines, and the commitment that, in case of failure, I will present my honorable resignation to the citizens of Sibiu.
The people of Sibiu are tired of politicians who promise them things, do not fulfill them and come, after four years, in front of them with other false promises, in order to take their vote.
In all acts of running an institution, the input of the team is essential. PSD has well-trained people, whom we will present to the people of Sibiu in the coming days.
With a president of the County Council and a competent team of advisors, important goals for our county can be achieved!
