Arad pentathlon champions, in the national Top 10!

The two representatives of Arad, accompanied by Prof. Daniel Lazăr and Nicoleta Bejan, both finished in tenth place in the national phase of a competition where the champions of each county in Romania plus the 6 sectors of the Capital were present, competing in five events: sprint (60m), shot put, shot put, long jump and endurance run (800m).

It should be noted that Leonardo Igreț (Liceul “Henri Coandă” – prof. Daniel Lazăr) finished on the podium in the speed test, having the second time of the competition in Zăvoi (7.0), ahead only of the champion Denis Buzoiu (LPS Brăila; 6.9) . In the general ranking, Igreț was the second athlete from the Transylvania and Banat region, after the representative of Satu Mare county, Kristof Kurti (LPS), ranked fifth.

Denise Bejan (Col. Particular “V. Goldiș” – prof. Pompiliu Moldovan) totaled 376 points – the most, 99, in the long jump, with a jump of 5.09 meters -, while Leonardo Igreț collected 437 of points, 41 more than in the county phase.

D. Buzoiu (Brăila), N. Ispășanu (Argeș) and R. Argeșeanu (Teleorman) climbed the podium in the general category, respectively A. Tăbăcaru (Argeș), A. Chiriță (Vâlcea) and A. Gavrilă ( Bucharest – sector 2), for females, most students in the final year of high school and members of high schools with a sports program.

“If we look at the previous editions of the ONSȘ in pentathlon, the contest in Vâlcea was a very strong one. As an example, with the points accumulated now, 376 and 437 respectively, Denise would have been in 8th place and Leo in 3rd place at the national stage in Arad, two years ago. This conclusion can only make the two athletes more ambitious for future editions. Congratulations to both champions of Arad, the parents and the school units where they come from, for their support, and good luck in the next competitions”, said Prof. Daniel Lazăr, upon his return from Rm. Vâlcea.
