The Academy of Land Forces “Nicolae Bălcescu” in Sibiu hosted, between April 22-26, the Military Pentathlon Championship for military educational institutions, the final at the Ministry of National Defense.

At the event organized by the Military Physical Education Service of the Defense General Staff, athletes from seven military academies and schools of military foremen and non-commissioned officers (Academy of the Land Forces “Nicolae Bălcescu” from Sibiu, Naval Academy “Mircea cel Bătrân” from Constanța, Academy of the Air Forces “Henri Coandă” from Brașov, “Ferdinand I” Military Technical Academy from Bucharest, “Basarab I” Land Forces Military School of Military Majors and Non-Commissioned Officers from Pitesti, “Traian Vuia” Air Force Military Majors and Non-Commissioned Military School, Boboc , the Military School of Military Majors and Non-Commissioned Officers for Communications, Information Technology and Cyber ​​Defense from Sibiu) competed to get the best score at the most complex applied-military discipline – the military Pentathlon.

Following the course of the five events: swimming 50 meters, the CISM obstacle course with a length of 500 meters and 20 obstacles, shooting at a distance of 100 meters, accuracy and speed, throwing practice grenades at distance and accuracy and cross country (8 km male, 4 km female), the athletes of the academy, led by Capt. Robert Băban and trained by Col. (rz.) prof. univ. dr. Robert Stănciulescu and Mr. Iosif Șaroși achieved the best results, ranking first on the podium, both in the individual events and in the team rankings (female and male).

In the male individual, all three places on the podium were occupied by students from the “Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy in Sibiu:

  • 1st place – sd.frt. Antonio Farcas;
  • second place – sd.frt. Laurentiu Tailor;
  • third place – sd.cap. Ionut Podiuc.

In the women’s individual event, the final ranking was as follows:

  • 1st place – sd.cap. Cosmina Capdefer – Academy of Land Forces “Nicolae Bălcescu” from Sibiu;
  • second place – sd frt. Denisa Costa – “Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy from Sibiu;
  • third place – sd.sg. Sonia Iliescu – “Mircea the Old” Naval Academy from Constanța.

Team standings – men’s:

  • 1st place – the batch of the “Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy from Sibiu;
  • 2nd place – batch of the Military School of Military Majors and Non-Commissioned Officers of the Air Force “Traian Vuia”, Freshman;
  • third place – the batch of the “Mircea cel Bătrân” Naval Academy from Constanța.

Team standings – women:

  • 1st place – the batch of the “Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy from Sibiu;
  • second place – the batch of the “Mircea cel Bătrân” Naval Academy from Constanța;
  • 3rd place – batch of the Military School of Military Majors and Non-Commissioned Officers of the Air Force “Traian Vuia”, Freshman.

In the general ranking by educational institutions:

  • 1st place – “Nicolae Bălcescu” Land Forces Academy from Sibiu;
  • 2nd place – Military School of Military Majors and Non-Commissioned Officers of the Air Force “Traian Vuia”, Freshman;
  • 3rd place – “Mircea the Old” Naval Academy from Constanța.
