There are only a few days left until May 1 and many Romanians are already thinking about going out for a barbecue this year. For that, however, you have to take into account several legal provisions, since May 1st, in Romania, it is totally forbidden to make the barbecue, without respecting several rules.

The approach of May 1 has many of us preparing for a day of relaxation in the middle of nature, and for many this includes an outdoor barbecue. However, it is important to be aware of the legal rules and regulations that govern these activities.

Before starting the party, you must take into account what Law no. 54/2012 regarding the conduct of picnic activities. Thus, you must be careful not to destroy, modify or degrade the information boards, markings, indicators, constructions, fences or any other arrangements located in the perimeter of the leisure base.

Waste is thrown only in the specially arranged places and is deposited selectively in the containers labeled according to the waste category, in accordance with the rules regarding selective collection.

Regarding the lighting of the fire, you must take into account that it is done only in the specially arranged places and to supervise it at all times.

Law no. 54/2012 also stipulates that you must respect the activity schedule of the Leisure Center, leave the place where you carried out the picnic activity clean and unaltered, park vehicles only in areas specially arranged for this purpose and use them to satisfy physiological needs only specially arranged places.

What you are not allowed in the leisure base

According to the current legislation, you must not use personal hygiene products at a distance of less than 30 m from water courses, do not wash the objects that served the picnic activity in the waters in the vicinity of the recreation base, do not feed wild animals and nor remove or injure or destroy plants, animals, rocks or any other elements of the natural and/or built environment.

The peace must be preserved in such a way as not to disturb local communities, wildlife or other visitors, not to throw cigarettes, matches or any other lighted objects in places other than those specially arranged, to respect public order and good morals, according to the provisions of the legislation in force and not to carry out picnic activities outside the premises of the Leisure Base.

Failure to comply with these May 1 rules may attract sanctions, according to the provisions of Law no. 54/2012. Fines vary depending on the provisions violated, from small amounts to significant penalties.

The ISU also came up with other recommendations for barbecue goers. Thus, it is necessary to prepare the fire for food preparation only in specially arranged places, respecting the fire prevention rules, the fire should be made in places as far as possible from vegetation and in no case during excessive drought or in windy conditions, maintaining cleaning in the forest: throw papers, food scraps or bottles in specially arranged places; could contribute to the spread of fires in the forest and putting out the fire/hot coals with water or earth before leaving the forest.

Thus, it is totally forbidden from May 1, in Romania, to barbecue without respecting these rules, if you go to a leisure base.
