The Romanian Football Federation recently announced the Romanian football teams that applied for and obtained the UEFA license for the 2024-2025 season. Corvinul, a League 2 team qualified for the Romanian Cup final, was the last to submit its case, being in an extraordinary situation, so a verdict in its case has not yet been given.
Corvinul still has to wait to receive the UEFA license that nine teams in League 1 have already received.
All teams participating in the League 1 play-offs have obtained a UEFA license, so they have the right to play in European competitions if they get such a place. These are FCSB, Farul Constanţa, Craiova University, CFR Cluj, Rapid and Sepsi OSK Sfântu Gheorghe.
Apart from these, three other teams from the play-out requested and received the license for the European cups: SC Oțelul Galați, Universitatea Cluj and FCU Craiova.
Corvinul, as a League 2 team qualified for the final of the Romanian Cup, is in an extraordinary situation, so it later submitted its file and still has not received an answer.
“Regarding CS Corvinul 1921 Hunedoara, the Licensing Administration cannot provide details at this time about the licensing process, because the extraordinary licensing procedures are carried out by UEFA. According to the UEFA Licensing Regulations, only it can grant special permission to a club to enter UEFA club competitions,” announced the FRF Licensing Administration.
Although they play in the League 2 play-off without having the right to promotion to League 2, Corvinu is not prohibited from playing in a European competition, even if it is a club under public law. They just need to win the Romanian Cup and get the UEFA license.
