“USR Gorj asks PSD and PNL to stop mocking the CEO.

“Don’t forgetm that PSD and PNL shook hands and in Parliament, and they have for a law which simply makes Gorj county miserable:

* close other groups from the CEO, compared to those they have already put the lock, without putting anything in return;

* establishes that the hydropower plants at Valea Sadului and Curtisora, about 65% completed, outside the protected area, not to be finished, even if it costs us more to tear them down than to finish them.

USR tried to stop this disaster by introducingrequired three simple amendments in the law for the approval of GEO 175/2022which would have offered a solution not only for Gorj county, but for all of Romania that could have enjoyed energy produced at low prices.

The three amendments submitted by USR:

* the inclusion on the list to be completed, in addition to the two hydropower plants on the gorge, and the hydropower facilities from Valea Sadului and Curtișoara – those works on the Jiu river, completed in proportion to 55% and 65% respectively, for which until December 2015 174 billion RON were spent. Abandonment costs for these works are, according to ISPH, higher than completion costs. The completion of these facilities would mean an additional 139,000 MWh of annual production.

* closure conditioning power plants to put forward other production capacities in place. The opening, before the closure, of some new capacities, which will produce the equivalent of the annual average of the last 3 years produced by the groups that they take out of production.

* canceling the preservation of lignite groups and their use until something is replaced. From a technical point of view, for these groups part of a whole system, conservation is irreversible, the entry into conservation of such groups it actually means closure.

All three amendments were rejected with PSD and PNL votes, without proposing anything else to the problem generated instead: energy import and people left on the roads,” states a USR press release.
