Filip Havârneanu claims that “Ciolacu’s act must be considered a contravention and fined”.

“I submitted a complaint to the CNCD against Prime Minister Ciolacu, because such a slip, be it verbal, towards the inhabitants of the region of Moldova cannot be overlooked. The prime minister must be fined for discriminating against Moldovans. I will not accept that the Prime Minister of Romania turns the inhabitants of Moldova into subjects of banks. As a resident of Iesian, I felt discriminated against and there is no doubt that the other Romanians from the region of Moldova also categorized the attitude of the prime minister as an insult”, said deputy Filip Havârneanu.

He added that we have a prime minister who “feels indignation at the simple suspicion that someone could associate him as being originally from Moldova”.

“The truth is that Marcel Ciolacu and the PSD barons who are well-entrenched in public positions have for a long time had an attitude of defiance regarding the north-eastern region of Romania, implying that it is a poorly developed geo-political area, from which – they would like to be a part, not even hypothetically, but they forget that the cannons they constantly gave left Moldova without infrastructure, investments and economic stability”, says the USR leader from Iesia, Filip Havârneanu.

On Friday, the Movement for the Development of Moldova (MDM) asked Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu for an explanation, after he said on Thursday, in Timisoara, in a press conference, that “Buzăul is not in Moldova and please don’t offend me”.

Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu explained, regarding the statement he made on Thursday in Timişoara, that he is a Moldovan just as he is from Transylvania, Banat, Olt or Bucovina, and his mother was from Tecuci. “So far be it from me to offend anyone. I see that a joke I made in Timişoara was interpreted and some are trying to make political speculation about it. It was nothing pejorative. If someone felt offended, I apologize, that’s not what I wanted”, added the PSD leader.
