War veterans honored on Monday, April 29, in Oradea through a military ceremony organized by Bihor Prefecture

On Monday, April 29, 2024, starting at 12:00, the military ceremony will take place on the occasion of War Veterans Day.

The demonstrations will take place at The monument to the fallen Romanian heroes in the Second World War from the Oradea “Rulikowski” Municipal Cemetery, according to the following schedule:

12:00 – 12:02 – Welcome of the official, presentation of honor and salute of the battle flag;
12:02 – 12:05 – Singing of the National Anthem of Romania;
12:05 – 12:20 – Religious service;
12:20 – 12:40 – Speeches on the significance of the event;
12:40 – 12:55 – The festivity of laying wreaths and flowers at The monument to the fallen Romanian heroes in the Second World War;
12:55 – 13:00 – Parade of the honor detachment;
13:00 – End of activity.

On April 29 every year we celebrate War Veterans Day. This date reminds us of the Royal Decree of King Charles I, of April 29, 1902, when the title of war veteran was first instituted, in honor of the soldiers who fell in the War of Independence.

It is our duty to honor the sacrifices our veterans have made for the country we know today. Veterans are living monuments because they fought for the ideals of their country, being eternal servants of the country. Even after retirement, war veterans have an important role in training new generations of fighters. Deeds of bravery passed down through word of mouth to the younger generations, motivate the latter to remain unwavering in their belief in the duty to defend the country.
