Florentina Miruna Stanciu, a student in the 6th grade at Drăgăneşti-Olt Technological High School, won the 2nd place in the national phase of the “History and traditions of the Roma” Contest. Miruna’s coordinating teachers are Angela Monea and Gheorghe Fieraru.

The competition took place in Sibiu, between April 19-22, 2024. 43 students from 21 counties of the country participated in the competition.

The host of the national stage was the “Terezianum” Sibiu Food Industry Technological High School.

The accompanying students and teachers also benefited from a trip to Dumbrăveni and Brateiu, as well as a visit to the Roma Museum in Sibiu, where they were each given a book with a dedication written by Lumința Cioabă, writer and poet of Roma nationality.

In addition to the members of the national commission of the competition, Prof. Univ. Dr. Gheorghe Sarău from the Faculty of Foreign Languages ​​of the University of Bucharest and Iulian Paraschiv, the president of the National Agency for Roma.

The prizes offered by the Ministry of Education were worth 10600 lei, respectively 1000 lei for the first prize, 700 lei for the second prize, 500 lei for the third prize and 300 lei for the mention. Also, the ProEuropa Roma Party supplemented the prize fund with the amount of 900 lei for each participant in this contest.
