press release

April 28th marks the “World Day of Safety and Health at Work”, an event that brings to the forefront of public opinion the special importance of the activity of preventing occupational accidents and diseases.

On this occasion, ITM Dâmbovița organized, yesterday, April 24, 2024, a meeting with the competent internal and external prevention and protection services and with the representatives of several companies, proposing a debate on a current topic – “Security and Health at work in the era digital, under the auspices of the European Agency for Safety and Health at Work”. Discussions and presentations sought to raise awareness of the impact of new digital technologies on work and workplaces and the associated occupational health and safety (OSH) challenges and opportunities.

Ileana Dragomir, SSM labor inspector, within ITM Dâmbovița, made a general presentation of what digitization means, how it can be applied in the activity of a public institution or a company, what benefits it has but also what challenges it comes with batch.

In addition to the discussions about OSH activity in the context of new technologies, the deputy chief OSH inspector, Amalia Bosnea brought up the issue of work accidents, how they can be avoided and how they must be transmitted to the Territorial Labor Inspectorate, generating a debate on this subject. Moreover, this aspect is one for which ITM Dâmbovița makes continuous efforts to inform employers and workers, out of the desire to minimize unwanted events.

Health and Safety at Work is a priority area for the European Union and, as a consequence, current measures are drawn up annually to which Romania must align. This general concern is in addition to our desire to reduce the incidence of occupational diseases and accidents at work, so I make a new appeal to you. Go to the companies you deal with, talk to the employees, go to the field, where they work, monitor them, keep up to date with everything from training, protective equipment and medical checks, to compliant and regularly checked machinery . Do everything in your power to ensure the preventive side and don’t forget, I always say, an OSH mistake means much more than a fine, or a broken machine, it means suffering, or, God forbid, even death . And that’s certainly not what we want for any of us!” sent the chief inspector of ITM Dâmbovița, Marius Lixandru.
