Following the controls carried out recently, to determine the phytosanitary status of the crops and the issuing of warning bulletins by mail, as well as at the request of some farmers, it was found that the general condition of the crops was very good, and from a phytosanitary point of view, foliar diseases in the complex attacks below the PED limit in intensity and frequency. Physiological diseases are manifested, however, generalized, with different intensities, in grassy cereals, mainly due to the thermal shocks from 26.03 – 20.04.2024, it is mentioned in a document submitted to the Ministry of Agriculture by the Galati Phytosanitary Office.

“These thermal shocks were manifested by large temperature fluctuations, +5°C in the morning at 4.00 – 5.00, corroborated with temperatures of +25, even +30°C, at 16.00 – 17.00 and the total lack of precipitation. These differences have determined diseases of a non-parasitic nature, which are manifested throughout the county by the yellowing of leaves (sometimes longitudinal stripes appear) due to the destruction of chlorophyll, up to a pronounced yellowing of the plants, but also (sometimes) a violet coloration of the leaves, characteristic of the formation of anthocyanins. The phenomenon is in correspondence with the cultivation technology and also concerns the lands that are less fertilized with nitrogen or if the nitrogen was applied without an agrochemical map”, the head of the Galati Phytosanitary Office, Valentin Huciu, told us.

According to it, the diseases of a non-parasitic nature will fade in the next period, because the first treatment against foliar diseases has been carried out, and the second treatment will also be approved, but with the condition of respecting the culture technology and the integrated control technology.
