The technology equipping the Magnetom Flow system was announced during the European Congress of Radiology 2024 in Vienna, and the first device will be installed at the Dorna Medical Clinic in Borșa, in June 2024.

Innovative magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technology is designed to improve diagnostic capabilities and increase efficiency in patient care.

Magnetom Flow brings a significant evolution in medical imaging and a number of essential benefits for patients and healthcare professionals. With innovative technology, this MRI system enables high-quality images with superior resolution and clarity that facilitate accurate diagnosis of various medical conditions. Advanced imaging capabilities allow physicians to better identify and assess lesions and pathologies, leading to the most effective treatment strategies, personalized for each patient.

The Magnetom Flow is Siemens Healthineers’ first (T) 1.5 magnetic resonance imaging platform with a closed helium circuit, sealed for life, without a helium escape line, and which, in the event of helium loss, allows automatic restart, without any intervention from the Siemens Healthineers service team.

One of the major advantages of Magnetom Flow is the ability to improve the patient experience during MRI scanning procedures. Thanks to its ergonomic design and advanced noise reduction and scan acceleration technologies, the new machine offers a more comfortable and pleasant experience for patients. Reducing scan time by up to 50% and eliminating the need for repeat procedures not only improves patient comfort, but also increases efficiency and productivity within medical facilities. Magnetom Flow is versatile as it can be used for a wide range of medical applications, from brain and spine imaging to cardiac and oncology.

The installation of Magnetom Flow at the Dorna Medical Clinic in Borșa is the result of a collaboration between the public and private sectors.

“The introduction of one of the first Magnetom Flow systems in the world in Romania demonstrates our commitment to contribute to the improvement of the health system through continuous innovation. This system is designed to be energy efficient by reducing the use of resources. By investing in technologies like Magnetom Flow, we are not only advancing medical diagnostics, we are also taking an essential step towards achieving our goal of raising the quality level of the healthcare system to the highest standards while maintaining a sustainable approach,” said Sonja Wehsely , Executive Vice President CEECA Siemens Healthineers.

“By introducing, for the first time in the world, this platform in a clinic in Romania, Dorna Medical, we reconfirm our commitment to revolutionize the medical industry in our country. The clinical and technical capabilities of the Magnetom Flow equipment support clinicians in establishing a precision diagnosis, leading to better treatment decisions and, ultimately, to improving patient care”, stated Claudia Oanea, Managing Director of Siemens Healthineers Romania.

Magnetom Flow is also designed to reduce consumption of resources such as helium and power consumption. Dry Cool technology together with improved energy saving features significantly reduce costs and energy consumption. In addition, the compact size and the absence of the exhaust pipe make the installation of the system easier and more economical in medical institutions, without requiring structural changes that can incur significant costs. This sustainable approach not only protects the environment, but also promotes a more environmentally friendly and responsible medical practice.

“Magnetom Flow is a key ‘player’ in the MRI market, providing unprecedented performance and cost-effectiveness for healthcare providers. After 40 years of excellence in Magnetom imaging technology, we are bringing the latest innovation offered by this range for the first time in our country. We are confident that Magnetom Flow will strengthen our position as a leader in magnetic resonance imaging solutions, promoting sustainable growth and bringing tangible benefits to our customers,” said Florin Preoteasa, Business Development Manager MR CEECA.

“The installation of the first Magnetom Flow in Borșa aligns with our mission to reach out to isolated communities, ensuring that advanced diagnostic tools are not just a privilege reserved for small groups. This technology will equip local healthcare providers with accurate and efficient diagnostic capabilities, ultimately improving patient care in this area. The installation of this equipment at the Dorna Medical Clinic will significantly improve the diagnostic and treatment processes, with enormous benefits for the local community,” added Domink Pawnlinker, Business Manager MR CEECA Siemens Healthineers.

We are proud to be the first medical center to install Magnetom Flow, a technology that not only optimizes the scanning process, but redefines the way we provide healthcare to patients by increasing their comfort level during the procedure. The scanning capacity of this equipment is extraordinary and will allow us to provide a faster but also more accurate diagnosis, crucial aspects for effective treatment. The importance of the approach is all the greater, considering that patients from the Borșa region travel over a 100 km radius to benefit from scanning services. This achievement is not only an important step for us as a medical institution, but represents a firm commitment to the well-being and health of the community we serve,” saidS Dr. Roman Boca, Founder and General Manager of Dorna Medical.

“Today, the Society of Radiology and Medical Imaging marked a historic moment together with Siemens Healhineers Romania through the official announcement of the installation of the first Magnetom Flow globally, in our country. This moment represents not only technological progress, but also a fulfilled promise to patients, to society, that of providing high-performance medical care. By facilitating access to state-of-the-art equipment and continuous training programs, we are all committed to supporting the professional development of Romanian radiologists, offering them the prerequisites to achieve excellence in diagnosis and treatment”, a Underline Prof. Dr. Ioana Gheonea, President of the ESR Youth Committee (European Society of Radiology).

“It is essential to work with all stakeholders: government, private institutions and local communities to develop a health system that not only meets current needs, but is also prepared to face future challenges. My vision is to have a Romanian healthcare system where every patient feels valued, respected and properly cared for. Access to state-of-the-art technology, the education of professionals in the field through continuous training, along with the implementation of an effective health management system are the pillars we must strengthen”, added Bogdan Pană, lecturer at the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy.
