The composition of the group of specialized teachers who analyzed the items from the simulation of the National Assessment is anonymous. At the request of Edupedu.ro, the Ministry of Education refused to say who is part of this group: “For reasons related to the good organization and conduct of the exams and in relation to the general regulations regarding the protection of personal data, we cannot communicate their identity”. We remind you, in the case of the National Assessment simulation, these specialized teachers recommended the teachers to do exercises with the students, especially with items like those where the results were poor.

Edupedu.ro asked the Ministry of Education for the names of the specialist teachers who were part of the working group that carried out the analysis of the items from the simulation of the National Assessment, but the Ministry cited data protection and “reasons related to the good organization and conduct of the exams” and he refused to say who the specialist teachers are.

“The analyzes of the results (by items) obtained at the national level following the implementation of the EN VIII simulation were carried out by the coordinators of the exam disciplines (advisers from the CNPEE, experienced specialized teaching staff). For reasons related to the good organization and conduct of the exams and in relation to the general regulations on the protection of personal data (GDPR + Law 544/2001), we cannot communicate their identity to you”, according to the response of the Ministry of Education.

Edupedu.ro request:

“We request the composition of the working group composed of specialized teachers of the CNPEE that carried out the analyzes of the results obtained at the national level following the simulation of the National Evaluation.

Who was part of the Romanian language and mathematics working group? Please specify name, surname, position and specialization”.

  • It should be noted that it is not yet known who the “10,000 specialists who worked on the Educated Romania project” were, which was the basis of the Pre-University Education Law no. 198/2023 and the Higher Education Law. Edupedu.ro requested the Presidential Administration, as early as 2022, for the nominal list of these specialists/persons who contributed to the report Educated Romania. I have not received any response.
Context information

The analysis of the group composed of specialized teachers from the National Center for Policies and Evaluation in Education recommends that teachers do exercises with the students that contain the items where the results were poor, i.e. exercises with “performing arithmetic operations with natural numbers and respecting the order of performing the operations” .

The specialists’ recommendation does not provide additional information or methods for teachers to help 7th graders to catch up.

This year at the simulation – National Assessment 2024, a negative record was registered: The lowest percentage of grades above 5 in the last 4 years, in Mathematics. According to the results published by the Ministry of Education, one student out of five did not know how to solve a second-grade exercise with the order of operations.

In the case of the analysis after the BAC simulation, the CNPEE working group, also made up of specialist teachers, whose identity is unknown, recommended the students to take practice tests and follow Teleșcoala lessons.

To be specified, in the press release of the Ministry, according to CNPEE, following this type of analytical approach of the results recorded by the students who took the simulation tests, the CNPEE working group (made up of specialized teachers) identified elements able to optimize the design of exam subject variants, so that the share of satisfactorily/well/very well performed items (successful items) increases in the economy of the test and, at the same time, made suggestions for remedial activities that the students could go through.”

The Ministry of Education delayed by a week the presentation of this report, which should have been published on March 22 according to its own commitments officially launched by the ministry.

Ligia Deca recently said that “national exams are not Olympics”, the Minister of Education, Ligia Deca, told TVR Info: “I think it is wrong to refer to subjects in terms of ease or difficulty”. It mentioned that the subjects must be calibrated “from the point of view of the evaluation program” and “from the point of view of the period covered by the students”.
