The “Mihai Eminescu” Cultural Center hosted today, April 24, from 1:00 p.m., the eighth edition of the “Leave spring at home and say No to drug use” Festival. The event was attended by Dumitrița Gliga (PSD), president of the Education Committee of the Chamber of Deputies, Prof. Paula Dărăban, general school inspector of IPJ Mureș, Prof. Univ. Dr. Mihaela Kardos, representatives of the Târgu Mureș City Hall, teaching staff and students.

“Today’s event crowned all the activities carried out during the week of April 22-26, activities organized under the auspices of the festival “Leave spring at home and say NO to drugs”, now in its 8th edition. We want through this festival to show young people that the customs and traditions of the area can be preserved, because the goal is to know their roots, and our greatest joy is that every year, with us are schools from the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine and Turkey, besides the city and county high schools”said Prof. Rauca Antoaneta Maria, director of the Technological High School “Gheorghe Şincai” Târgu Mureș.

In addition to students from schools abroad, students from the “Traian Săvulescu” Agricultural College, the “Mihai Eminescu” Pedagogical College, the Forestry High School in Gurghiu and the Children’s Palace also participated.

The term drugs in this event presents more of a metaphor, being especially about the less educational or recreational activities that young people have.

“Our idea started from the fact that the students can do something else or feel good doing other extracurricular activities, through which they can enjoy their soul, giving up drugs. We don’t call only substances drugs, but also the social networks they use excessively”she added.

Who performed on stage

In the opening of the event, students from the Children’s Palace in Sighisoara presented, through an atypical dance, all the states that the students participating in the festival went through and also their conception of what the free, youthful, spring spirit means.

The story staged by the students of the Technological High School “Gheorghe Şincai” reminded Pintea Viteazul together with his band of outlaws. This “Robin Hood” of Maramureș, considered a mythical hero endowed with supernatural powers, Pintea Haiducul was an educated man, knowledgeable in several foreign languages and military techniques. In the students’ dance, the moment when Pintea, together with his outlaws, following his betrayal by the nobles of the Baia Mare fortress, in order not to be caught by the armies of the Habsburg empire, committed suicide by throwing themselves off the cliffs. The finale, a wedding game from the Maramureș area, is actually the dance of immortality.

A series of Easter-themed artistic moments followed, illustrating traditions and customs specific to the most important celebration of Christianity.

Liceu Silvic Gurghiu presented the custom of girls’ shouting for the girls’ fair in Gurghiu.

The students of Professional School no. 9 from the Municipality of Chisinau, future tradesmen: welders, mechanics, builders and computer operators. And as Moldovans are artists by nature, the children accompanied by teachers Blanița Lidia and Ceban Serghei presented an old Moldovan custom “Bride’s Petite”, interpreted in a modern way.

In the foreground, a Moldovan family with two grown daughters to be married prepared for the Holy Easter Holidays “as tradition demands”. They put on the most beautiful dresses, in national style, prepared the house, prepared traditional dishes and are waiting for guests. These are 5 marriageable lads who are put to the test by the girls’ father “Who’s the loudest at the party?” Thus the young people showed their talent, hoping that he would be chosen. The coordinator of the program was Chetrean Lucia.

The students from the “Mihai Eminescu” National Pedagogical College staged the custom of the Wetting of young wives: the choice of partners, advice from old women, the preparation of Pentecost cakes, the adornment of the wife and the Wetting ritual for those who have given birth and must stay at home.

The Ukrainian delegation from the city of Balta was represented by High School no. 2 from Balta, director Liliya Doni, teachers Irina Grineva, Natalia Karasik and Natalia Kalinina, as well as 10 students from the 7th grade. They brought Ukrainian Easter traditions to the public’s attention. Since ancient times, Easter has been the main religious holiday of the year for the Ukrainian people. Over many millennia, they formed their traditions, rituals and beliefs that were passed down from generation to generation, some of which they talked about in their script.

The rhythms were changed to oriental ones by the representation of Suleiman Demirel Anatolian Hight School, from Ankara, Turkey. Their first dance was a modern dance about Troy, one of the oldest and most well-known stories of mankind in which dream and truth, science and Utopia mix. The second dance was a lively, active, rhythmic, lively traditional Ankara dance, and the third Halay, which denotes many people, unity and cooperation.

The students of the “Traian Săvulescu” Agricultural College performed a suite of maiden dances from the Mureș Valley. These choreographic manifestations of great virtuosity organically combine in their plastic development movements and rhythm in forms that will delight our senses.

The Technological High School “Gheorghe Şincai” from Târgu Mureș returned to the scene with a suite of Hungarian folk dances.

“Love is hard, but beautiful” is the guiding sentiment reflected in the folk songs and dances specific to the Transylvanian Plain. Professor Orosz Reka coordinated the group of 18 students, credit for the choreography going to student Nemeth Denisz Mark.

The show ended on an optimistic note, with the energy and good will of the gypsy dance presented by the students of the Children’s Palace in Sighișoara.

Once the evolution of technology has taken a great scale, most of the young people are too busy to access the internet, no longer involved in knowing the real treasures of our people. Romanian folk traditions remain our most precious treasure and must be promoted, kept alive in the minds of children and people. Extracurricular activities have the broadest interdisciplinary character, offering the most efficient and timely ways of capitalizing on local and national traditions, customs and traditions. Moreover, it disconnects young people from the Internet and develops their interest in knowing, preserving and transmitting the Romanian folk port, the traditions and customs specific to our people. At the eighth edition of the “Leave spring at home and say NO to drug use” Festival, an exhibition was presented with works by students, as well as traditional objects from the areas and countries where the participants come from.
