Terrible accident on the Bucharest-Pitesti highway, last evening. We warn you that images and information with a strong emotional impact follow. A 38-year-old man died after driving his car into the metal parapet that separates the directions of the highway. The slide actually pierced the car in a devastating impact.

The accident took place at the kilometer of the A1 highway, in the area of ​​Răteşti township in Argeş county. The 38-year-old driver was alone in the car and was heading home to Pitesti.

At one point, he lost control of the steering wheel and hit the metal slide between the two directions of travel. The impact was so strong that the slide went through the hood of the car and came out through the trunk. The young man had no chance, he lost his life on the spot. In order to be able to get him out of the car, the firemen had to cut the metal railing, and at this moment they are working on its repair. Most likely, the driver lost control of the steering wheel due to the aquaplaning phenomenon. More precisely, he sped on a wet road.

Aquaplaning, when it occurs and how to react

Aquaplaning occurs when there is a layer of water on the road that prevents the tire from contacting the asphalt. In these conditions, controlling the vehicle becomes almost impossible, even for the most experienced drivers, according to acr.ro. In general, aquaplaning occurs when the following conditions are met: roadway covered with water over large portions and high vehicle speed.

To avoid aquaplaning, drivers should consider the following:

Tire wear can lead to a reduction in tread depth, which can lead to the occurrence of aquaplaning. “Always check your tires for wear and replace them if necessary. Regularly checking your tire pressure increases the safety of your trips. Attention: both high pressure and too low tire pressure favor aquaplaning! In the case of tires with unidirectional profile, their direction of rotation must correspond to the direction of travel of the vehicle. When buying a tire, pay extra attention to the anti-aquaplaning properties. In rainy weather, always adapt the speed to the weather and road conditions volumes of water accumulate on the roadway which can cause aquaplaning”, the Automobil Club Român also write.
