The municipality of Suceava attracts the attention of public opinion with a unique and surprising feature: just 3 minutes away from the city center, there are hundreds of hectares of agricultural land. This unusual situation places Suceava in a unique position on the world urbanism map.

Everyone notices with amazement that Suceava politicians show great respect for the Agricultural Research Station, located in the geographical center of Suceava municipality, equivalent in area to the districts of Obcini, George Enescu, Zamca and Mărășești combined.

More jokingly, more seriously, this strategic positioning of the Agricultural Research Station gives a special importance to agriculture in the urban context of Suceava.

Although major institutions such as the Emergency County Clinical Hospital, “Ștefan cel Mare” University or the Archdiocese of Suceva and Rădăuțil are faced with limited spaces and will have to develop in depth or height, local politicians seem to be turning their attention to the agricultural development of of the city since they are unable to overcome this impasse.

We can only think that this attention to agriculture suggests a possible paradigm shift in the way modern cities manage their resources and plan their development.

Probably, in the future, the tourism promotion campaigns of the municipality of Suceava could highlight the concept of “Suceava – Agricultural City”, an approach that could attract the attention of tourists and investors interested in an unconventional urban experience, which would show how it integrates agriculture in urban life.

It is obvious that Suceava is facing a blockage and cannot expand due to the limitation imposed by the lands of the Agricultural Research Station, the city being condemned to agglomerate from one day to the next, which generates frustration for the residents and shows the inability of politicians to think a city development.

If the municipality of Suceava remains limited in its development by the agricultural lands of the Agricultural Research Station, then the city has no chance to recover, even if it rejuvenates.
