Nicusor Dan: “The battle is still going on between me and Piedone. Nature should no longer open its mouth, let alone run for office”

The General Mayor of the Capital, Nicușor Dan, declared on Tuesday, on Digi24, after the decision of the Coalition to go with separate candidacies to the Capital City Hall, that the battle will continue between him and Cristian Popescu Piedone. He also criticized Piedone and Firea, saying once again about the mayor of Sector 5 that he is a thug, and about Firea that he has connections with real estate speculators and should not open his mouth anymore, let alone want to be mayor.

“I also saw the Coalition’s decision. It proves once more the way they have acted so far, that it is not impossible to make an electoral program in six and a half weeks. In the current configuration, hereafter, the first two chances are for me and Piedone. In fact, in the survey done a month ago, one of the slides refers to this possibility and Piedone was far ahead of Gabriela Firea, even if she was supported by the entire Coalition. I say today that the battle, being elections in a single round, that the battle will be between me and Piedone”, declared Nicușor Dan.

He also explained that we have two candidates on the left, both Firea and Piedone, and each has connections with real estate speculators.

“Firea proposed in the General Council, during her mandate, the five sector PUZs, all canceled and suspended by the court and Piedone fought with all her strength to keep this sector PUZ alive, although the Bucharest Court of Appeal annulled it. Firea issued hundreds of illegal building permits, giving square meters of space in excess of what was legal. He signed countless illegal documents in the field of urban planning. I have court orders. In a normal society, a character like that shouldn’t open his mouth, let alone want to be mayor,” said the mayor.

The Aedile also added that Piedone is a thug, as defined in DEX.

“He is criminally convicted, in all his movements he is accompanied by some people from the Sportsmen’s Clan, so he fits the definition of an underworld”, concluded Nicușor Dan, at Digi24.

The coalition decided on Monday evening to go with separate candidacies for the Capital City Hall, respectively Gabriela Firea – PSD and Sebastian Burduja – PNL, in order to maximize the electorates of the two parties, according to some political sources. The coalition discussed the situation of the candidate for the Capital City Hall, Cătălin Cîrstoiu, and after long discussions it reached the solution of separate candidacies.
