The tragic accident would have happened after a 25-year-old man, who was driving a car, made a turning maneuver directly from the first lane. The law enforcement officers specified that the driver had not consumed alcohol.

According to the information provided by IPJ Galati representatives, the accident took place on Easter, May 5, 2024, at 2:52 p.m., on the Danube Embankment. The law enforcement officers were alerted by calling 112 regarding what happened on Marea Unire boulevard in Galati municipality.

Following investigations at the scene of the accident, the police established that “a car, driven by a young man, aged 25, from the municipality of Galați, while traveling on the said street on the 1st traffic lane, heading from Portului street to Cloșca boulevard, after passing Viva Park and arrived in front of a church, performed the turning maneuver, at which point it collided with a motorcycle traveling in the same direction on lane 2, driven by a 41-year-old man from the municipality Galatians”.

As a result of the accident, the 41-year-old man died, and the 35-year-old woman who was with him on the motorcycle is in a serious condition at the hospital.

The man injured as a result of the accident was given resuscitation maneuvers by the medical personnel from SMURD Galati and from the Galati County Ambulance Service. He was later transported to the hospital in a state of unconsciousness but, unfortunately, he died.

“Unfortunately, despite the efforts made by the medical staff, the 41-year-old man died at the hospital. In this case, the prosecution will be extended for the crime of manslaughter as well”, the Galati Police sent.
