It wasn’t just David Popovici who stole the spotlight at the last swimming championship, the athletes from Politehnica were also among the medalists.

Timișoara Polytechnic swimmers returned with three medals from the National Championship for seniors, youth and juniors, which took place in Otopeni. Emil Dăncăneț won two of them in the senior category, and Darius Nistor climbed the podium in the youth category.

Darius Nistor opened the way to medals at the National Swimming Championship in Otopeni, which took place between April 17 and 21, 2024. The Timișoara Polytechnic swimmer was in his first career final, in the 200-meter breaststroke, at the youth level . He finished third and won the bronze medal in a personal best – 2:20.76.

The other two medals were won by Emil Dăncăneț, both in the competitions intended for seniors. The Timișoara Polytechnic swimmer finished third in the final A of the 50-meter breaststroke event, tied with Danis Volontir, with a time of 28.40. Then, in the 100-meter breaststroke event, Emil Dăncăneț won the silver medal.

Daria Humă, Iustina Andrei, Albert Cojanu, respectively Cosmin Lancea, respectively coach Sabin Avram and Dragoș Neagu, physical trainer and physiotherapist were also part of the Timișoara Polytechnic delegation.
