Recently, the final layer of asphalt was poured on the section Belvedere Point (observatory) – Plateau Cercul Posponidelor, component of the investment project “Anti-erosion works on roads and correction of torrents that affect traffic safety, Cozla Park”.

The series of interventions started in 2022, worth 4.1 million lei (without VAT), had as objectives, among others, «reduction of deep soil erosion and alluvium transport and reduction of the flood risk of inhabited areas downstream of the road.»” – Piatra-Neamț City Hall sent

As part of the project, several measures were taken to repair the access road:

  • four new tubular bridges were placed to direct the water from the ditches;
  • a dam was built to retain excess precipitation;
  • concrete lining walls were executed at the steep slopes;
  • work was done to restore the road along its entire length, to ensure water drainage;
  • the road system was rehabilitated and modernized in order to increase resistance to erosion and to increase traffic safety.

“We have completed two very important investments on the Cozla mountain, the Belvedere point and now the access road. Both with equally great impact for us, the locals, and for tourists, but unfortunately ignored by the past administrations. The two projects are just the beginning of the strategy to highlight Cozla as one of the main tourist attractions in Piatra-Neamț, a strategy that continues with the thematic routes that are set up on the summit, with playgrounds and labyrinths, bicycle and tourist routes , but also the “Nicu Albu” Public Garden, the starting point for a hike in Cozla Park. declared the mayor Andrei Carabelea.

According to the Piatra-Neamț City Hall, for the sector km 0+000 (Belvedere point) – 0+417, the solution of a superstructure made of asphalt mixtures was chosen, for several reasons.

“As can be seen even now on the section Colibele Haiducilor – Belvedere (observatory), rehabilitated in 2015-2016, the cubic stone has worn out, become shiny and no longer grips.

The technical expert found this condition, but also the fact that there is a large slope (steep slope) in the area, and the freeze-thaw periods lead to the damage of the material faster, a fact that led to the solution of replacing it with an asphalt layer, on this portion which is open to road traffic. The cubic stone still exists on the sector km 0+417 – 0+890.

The intervention through these works was imposed by the fact that the road interrupted the natural drainage of the waters from the precipitation on the southern slope of the Cozla massif.

In addition, the road did not have sufficient bridges to discharge water from the ditches, and due to the heavy traffic during the construction period of the cable car and the annex buildings, the carriageway part of the road suffered visible damage.” – the representatives of the municipality also send
